Hey so recently my trunk stopped opening and the release inside won’t work as well as the release by the steering wheel (I don’t have a key fob btw). Whenever I press the button inside the cabin I can hear it trying to open and I’ve crawled in the trunk from the back seats and watched the latch as my friend pressed the button and I can see it trying to open but it just doesn’t go enough to get it to release ig? I’ve looked at other threads on here and no one I’ve seen has said it tries to open but doesn’t everyone else’s seems to just not work all together, I’m wondering if it could be the wiring or not since it’s trying to open. Any advice or anyone with a fix?

 

Might need some silicone or teflon based lubricant spray, might be the motor/actuator is getting worn out.

Probably just the actuator failing, pull the emergency release to get the trunk open. Spray a bunch of silicone lube into the latching mechanism to try to free it up (might be getting gummed up with age) then see if it will pop open.

If not then I would just replace the actuator, they don't last forever.
