My g35 coupe 2005 is throwing this code and I am wondering what my options are to fix this issue. Is the best option just replacing the transmission or a rebuild? Or is there a way I can fix the problem and not have to waste that much money
Thats the code for one of the solenoids inside your transmission valve body. If the car is driving fine I would just reset the code and see if it comes back again. If the car isnt running fine and youve been driving it around like that for a while then theres a good chance its already damaged parts in your transmission which will require a rebuild.
Heres the solenoid in the valve body.
If you wanna get to it you will have to jack the car up so u can get under it and drop the transmission oil pan. Heres a thread I made when I was fixing my TCM, just to give u an idea of the process. I would recommend having another person to help u if u do decide to do it yourself. Its heavy! Its messy! https://g35driver.com/forums/drivetr...p1759-fix.html

Yea I reset the ecu then the next day it would come back everytime I only did that a week max and I haven’t driven it since.
The solder fix is basically free if you do it yourself, transmission solenoids are cheap though and usually only about $25 apiece.
Just to verify, your dashboard does read the correct gear yes? When you put it in drive it actually shows you're in drive on the dash. Reason I ask is the PNP switch failure can also cause the direct clutch solenoid error code but you will see it displaying the wrong gear on the dash.
It's also possible the direct clutch is slipping, you would feel it when driving though, the engine would rev but the car wouldn't accelerate as fast as it should. That would throw the same error code because the transmission would be watching the turbine input and output shaft speeds and see it's not spinning fast enough, see that the direct clutch solenoid has the engagement signal, know something is wrong and throw the direct clutch solenoid error code.
Does it feel like it's slipping? If so does it have the correct fluid level (to rule out a torque converter lack of flow issue). If it is slipping and the fluid level is normal then I would expect to be shopping for a new/used/rebuilt transmission but no harm in opening up the valve body to look for a broken wire.
You can swap the direct clutch solenoid with either the input clutch or H/L reverse solenoid (recommend H/L reverse) to see if the error code changes to something else. That way you know for sure it's the solenoid.
Swapping with input clutch the error code would change to P1754, high/low reverse solenoid the code would swap to either P1767 or P1769
Ohh and drain the tranny fluid into a very clean container so you can reuse it, that way you aren't having to buy more fluid while troubleshooting and swapping the solenoids around.

yea I took out the valve body and tcm and inspected it and nothing was broken. And yea it reads every gear the problem that has been happening is whenever I’m at a complete stop sometimes it will take like 15 seconds to go from a stop to 40mph and Rpms won’t go over 4k, but after that it would drive fine
