Hello all,
I'd like to clean up my 2003 coupe steering wheel with a new wrap , or simply replace it if it's cheaper. I'm not looking for anything too far from stock looking, but again if the price is right, then I will consider it. What I would prefer is to replace it with the stock look and get a steering wheel re-wrap. So far, I haven't quite seen that anywhere. I was hoping there would be a kit where I can cut off the old leather, and just fold on the new leather, and then stitch it up.
I also looked on ebay hoping to just find a nice stock steering wheel that's not all munged up, but these cars are too old and I haven't seen.
Suggestions?
Does anyone on the forum do steering wheel re-wraps?
Thanks

You can just buy another used steering wheel in good condition on eBay for around $100. Just takes a couple weeks to find one that's in pristine condition.
I haven't seen anyone lately doing re-wraps though, it's been a while since I've done one myself but it's definitely not difficult. Time consuming yes, but not difficult.

Do you have a suggestion for a place that sells the rewrap in a kit so I can just put it together? I would have thought this would be straightforward, but I guess not. Originally Posted by cleric670

You're probably going to end up buying a Chinese one off Amazon. Just read the reviews to make sure other folks like it.
I strongly recommend pulling the steering wheel for this, it's a pretty time consuming project and it will kill your back trying to do it in the car.

Yes, I was going to pull it, it didn't seem hard at all to take it off, just careful with the airbag, right?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Only thing I might add is to used a bit of nail polish on the knots..like with fly tying. You can get the material and upholstery sewing kit on Amazon
Even though he is mainly a mustang guy, Chris Fix has a ton of youtube videos that apply to everyone who messes with their own cars. He is a "good explainer" as Vonnegut would say.

It looks like redline goods has a complete kit.
