You might be able to get away with bolting the screen mount directly to the inside of the cubby lid with it permanently being open. I don't have a non-nav G35 anymore, so I can't check, but you might be able to basically just drop the control box for the new radio into the cubby, cut holes for wiring in the back, and make a replacement "lid" that acts as a bracket for the new screen.
It'd be possible to 3D print a complete cubby replacement with the single-din mounting holes and such to make it a drop-in replacement, but I don't have a cubby to use for measurements here. If anyone has one to donate, I could do all the 3D modeling and printing here.

You are so awesome so offer your help! At this point, I am in discussion with a local radio repair shop that's aware of the failure mode of the g35 HU. I may have them repair and add-on a Bluetooth interface. This would be the easiest and least expensive option.

I know you probably can’t tell how well the paint job came out from this picture, but it turned out great.

Have a bunch of goodies going on today:
Differential bushings
370Z axels
Front and rear wheel hubs
One piece aluminum driveshaft
Stainless brake lines
Differential brace

Can barely wait.

Golly. Did you have to follow the golf club instructions to get all that stuff in the trunk?

Quick update. All of the work is done with the exception to getting new high flow Kinetix cats installed. Not terribly unexpected, but one of the bolts on the stock cats broke while removing the exhaust so I had to order new ones from Z1. I’m almost glad that this happened because the stock cats looked like crap all rusted and this mod will hopefully provide a little extra fun in the hp department along with the driveshaft.

Probably won’t get the car back until after Thanksgiving at this point due to shipping etc, but can’t wait to get behind the wheel. I really need to get new tires in spring as well. My Contis have a lot of tread left, but they are certainly hard from time and don’t grip well anymore. Will do Sport 4S in spring.

I'm curious to see how the Kinetix HFCs work out for you as I've been looking at them as well. Some of the other brands seem to be more susceptible to causing a CEL and I don't feel like dealing with that.

I really hope I don’t run into a CEL - Kinetix claims they don’t. I am replacing the O2 sensors with oem at the same time in the event that this could be the culprit of any unexpected CELs, as O2 sensors are notoriously sensitive to being fooled with in my experiences.

This project has definitely gotten larger than originally anticipated…..

You could always just plan on running non-foulers from the start instead of waiting for the CEL to turn on then installing a set.
