G35 LSD Swap?
G35 LSD Swap?
Right now, there's a car I'm eyeing. It's a 2004 skyline 350gt 70th anniversary edition with about 20,000 miles. Considering there's only 100 made, it's probably the only time I'd get to buy something like this, but I have an issue.
Having owned a 2005 model, I've really liked the LSD, and I was wondering if it would be possible to swap an LSD from a newer sport model into an older model. If it is possible, how difficult would it be? Thanks

you can pretty much swap any differential from the newer V36 Skyline 370gt or 370z into that 2004 v35 skyline you are considering. the ring tone gear is different on teh stub axles so that will need to be swapped. but vlsd stub axles can only use vlsd type and not open diff type.
or if you want to only swap the internal VLSD you can also.

If it's a coupe it probably already has the VLSD, as previously mentioned though you can just buy a VLSD diff and swap it in. It's VERY easy to swap the differential on these cars, personally I would stay away from the 370Z because 3.7 gears is pretty aggressive for daily driving on the DE engine, particularly if it's the regular DE and not the rev-up.
Normal DE engine rev limit is 6500
Rev-up is 7000
HR engine that came in the 370Z revs to 7500
When you use the 3.7 diff on the engine that only revs out to 6500 it feels bad.
