Purchased the new Z1 intake - anyone tried it yet?
I Never liked the look or the performance of the JWT intake, so the other night when I was on Z1 I saw their new intake and it looked pretty cool. Received it the other day but haven’t installed yet. Anyone else pick this up? I’m pretty impressed with the design and quality. Doubt there will be any performance gains, but should look better than the JWT which almost looks like a DYI product. I’ll update with impressions once I get it installed.
It definitely looks clean, unfortunately I'd probably have to modify it like I did my stock rev-up airbox in order to clear my radiator.
Do me a favor when you install it take a picture to see what kind of clearance there is around this part I circled. I basically had to carve out that whole corner on my airbox to fit around the big aluminum aftermarket radiator.
I’ve had mine for a couple of months. Very happy with it. Like others have stated, the quality is very good. I replaced my AFE dry filter and z tube, and I did notice an increase in throttle response, and the engine note is a slightly higher pitch at high rpm; also the throttle response just feels smoother throughout the engines range. I would bet that it is producing more power over my previous setup. It looks like an OEM part (which I like). I would highly recommend.
I have the Maxima 75mm throttlebody, and the stepped silicone boot does fit, despite what the Z1 website states. No, the step-lip inside the boot does not fit perfectly, however, my thought is that the benefit of the larger throttlebody outweighs the minor disturbance in airflow the less then perfect fit of the step-lip may produce.
