Hello all, I recently made a post about a grinding noise coming from behind the dash. I had multiple people tell me about the ABS relay, but even after disabling ABS and ALSO completely disconnecting the ABS Relay, it still makes the noise and is only getting worse. Ive also heard others talk about a sprocket in the engine making the noise, but from the engine bay, it sounds almost silent, engine sounds normal, but still has noise behind the dash. I am also almost positive it is coming from the passenger side. I can also replicate the noise by just adding electrical load, such as rolling up the windows. I will attach some videos if that helps any, won't be driving the car until I get this fixed as it is getting worse day by day.

Again, from the engine bay it is silent and sounds normal, also doesn't seem like it's coming from the transmission either. Definitely something electrical behind the dash but I am completely stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Stab in the dark, but maybe the climate system blower is eating itself? Stuck damper grinding away? Have you completely shut down the AC system to see if it is the source of the noise?

 

Does it make the noise when the engine is off too?

 

I’ve thought the same thing at first, but noise stays even when the fan and climate control is off. Also it does stop when the vehicle is off. Other than the blower motor tho i would have no clue what even COULD be making the noise.

 

Could be the right side fuel damper failing, it makes a distinct "thumping" sound that comes from directly behind the glove box..

 

That could be a possibility. I appreciate it, I’ll check it out. It did stall on me the other day while making the noise so that could be it. I’ll keep yall updated.
