How many inches do I need to lower to get the tucked look on 18 in wheels
I have a question and I looked EVERYWHERE! It's driving me crazy. How much do I need to drop the G coupe on 18's to get that wheel tuck look.
I just can't stand cars that are lowered but still have that slight wheel gap....like yes it's lowered but it irks that there is still that slight gap. How many inches drop does it take to get the tucked look??
I was thinking of HKS hipermax 4 SP vs ISC coilovers. The hks only give you 1.5 or 2 inch drop on fronts, while the ISC gives you up to 3 inches. I imagine i need somewhere between 2 to 2.5 inch drop to get that slight tucked in look.

No one can give you a number without knowing the size tire that you will be using. 18" is not enough information. This is a DIY item.
Measure distance from ground to the underside of the wheel well at its highest point. Subtract the height of the tire from that. Then subtract the distance that you want to tuck. That's your drop.
The numbers will be different for the front and the back, so do both measures.

Any idea based on that how many inches I would need drop to get tucked look? Honestly as bad as I want to stay JDM and go with HKS, I don't think 1.5 inch drop is going to cut it and will likely have to go with ISC where I can go 2 to 2.5 if I need to.

Download the FSM for the 2003 coupe from nicoclub.com. Look for similar info to the following post by @cleric670 for the 2006 model year:

And then of course you will need to be looking at offsets and at camber correction on top of figuring the drop.
You may want to do more research in the forum. This subject has been covered ad nauseum....

Yeah I've considered those aspects as well which is why I was focusing on the height aspect only, im very close to stock settings. You are going to get camber with a drop, I don't have a kit on so I'll have to eat that up, but I read adjusting the toe at an alignment is all you need to keep wear even, even with the bit of negative camber you gain from the drop.
But HKS is tripping if they think im buying a coilover with only 1.5 inch lowering, I've read that it does not close the gap from tire to fender. In fact the hipermax sp lowers more in the rear than the front by half an inch.
And the problem with JDM coils for the 350 and G is that they are all factory and not true style. Mines amuse all have factory style which is whack. Hks actually made a true style but took a shyt with the ride height. It's better to go with ISC rather than JDM for coils they did it right and better in terms of true styles and more adjustability.

Not to be a downer, but you should be prepared to take speed bumps on diagonally and expect some frame scraping on a daily driver...maybe even put in some skid plates on the frame.
Speed bumps, angled or steep driveways and pot holes all become challenges every-single-day on a car that has been dropped.
