G35 3.5 Won't start after water pump replaced
OK so I pulled #1 plug and I'm not getting any fire to it. I read that if the timing is off it won't fire saving itself from possible damage. Older engines fired no matter what but apparently these days they don't. I never messed with bank one or two cam chains so those have to be right. But they did get turned so I just kept rotating them till they looked in time again. I guess the question here is can the cams look to be in time but yet be out of time because they have to go one more time around to there marks. If you get my drift.
Also I did rotate the (chain), back to it's red link, 6 times and in counting it took 8 rotations of the crankshaft to return it's red link back to it's position on the crank but never back to it's mark along with the others. This engine is just nut's. Where is the good ole days.
Ok strange enough my son tried it while I was watching the plug for fire and there was a small gauge black wire that was broken off sitting there so I touched it to a ground and when he tried it the engine fired right up. After some lengthy burping and a test run the cooling system started working and it is running cool and good. Thanks for all your help. So in conclusion the bottom four pictures are the way it is supposed to be set. Dots left and elongated right.
