Dealer Charged Me $3200 For Brake Job!!!!!!!!!!

BEFORE I go on i just have to say i got the brembo slotted rotors and hawk hps pads for the front and rear of my g35 coupe (which came with brembos) for 821.26 and i do all the work on my cars ie pull motors trannys, rear ends etc so no i didnt pay this amount.

so i just need to vent about the dealers. DO THEY LIKE RIPPING PEOPLE OFF WTF. im so pissed about infiniti right now.

so heres the story last week my 03 coupe started to make noise so i said to myself ok lets see how much they will charge me to do both front and rear new rotors and front and rear brake pads

I had a bet going i said at most $1500 other buddy said $2000 and 3rd said its gonna be close to 3000 and we laughed him off. I mean $20 bucks are on the line here.

so i go into pull up to service tell them ok need a estimate. he looks over the front and says yah they are used and then looks in rear says these are low to. Im like oh the rear wears out as fast as the front (like a dumbass) he said yah sometimes they do.

so we go in for a estimate my 2 buddys with me.

"Well sir its expensive because you have the brembos, the fronts rotor each are about 570 with tax and rear 490 with tax" so that right there put me out of the $20 bucks then he said rear pads 260 and front 330, then about 500 for labor" Im like what hes like "yah we have to check the brake system also make sure there isnt damage and check the lines" at this point my buddys started calculatin the cost and then i hear "pay up bitches my $3000 dollar buddys estimate was almost right.

I looked at the guy and said this is a ****in jokes you guys totally just ripped me off if i was to go threw with this you and i know it. let me take your name im going to go see what is list on these and seeing if you would charge customers over list and ill be back. He immedatly was like no wait please wait i may have done something wrong.

SO WHAT IS LIST ON THE FRONT AND REAR STOCK OEM ROTORS FOR THE BREMBO EQUIPPED G35 OR THE 350Z TRACK MODEL AND THE FRONT AND REAR PADS THAT GO ALONG WITH THE BREMBO PACKAGE??

From what i've seen, the pair of fronts should be around 500 something and the pair of rear's should be 490. Not each. That's just plain bs. Dealers automatically assume that no one knows about cars and try to rip them off. blah...

That sounds about right for the brembo setup. If you are in fact replacing the rotors and pads at dealer part costs and dealer labor costs. My father bought a set of aftermarket 14" front brembo's and 13" rears for his 745i and it came out to around 5k with labor.

Price aside, if you do all the work you say you do on automobiles, why were you down at the dealership to begin with? Were you just there to settle a bet?

I recommend calling another dealership's service department and getting a detailed quote over the phone. Then call the first dealership you visited and ask the same questions. If the second dealership is even close to the first one you'll have your answer. If not, the high estimate will have some explaining to do.

At least that will ballpark you.

From where? The non-Brembo replacements are about that cheap, but the Brembo replacements I've seen were like $500-$700 a pair.

I WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP to see how truthful they are to their customers. in this case i feel this dealer is just out to get money.

SO DOES ANYONE HAVE THE LIST PRICE ON THE FRONT AND REAR BREMBO ROTORS AND PADS?

$500 for a pair of regular Brembo rotors? That's crazy! I had no idea these stupid brakes are that expensive. There not even cross-drilled, slotted, cyro'd, nothin. Just plane 'ole vented rotors. But oh, they're Brembo, so that's why they can charge ten times more for them. Are they even made in Italy? I sure hope so for that price.

I do my own work on my cars, including brake work. I've never spent more than $200 in parts doing a brake job. By comparison, the rotors for my Z06 cost $30 each at Napa, and $75 for the original GM/PBR rotors.

Fortunately, I don't plan on keeping this car long enough to warrant replacing the rotors. Maybe just the pads, but that's about it. I hate cars with high maintenance costs, and these Brembos aren't helping this car with that. If I wanted a high cost maintenance car, I would have bought a German car.

This is exactly why they replaced the Brembos on 2005 models. 99% of the performance at a fraction of the cost (according to my salesperson). Customers were pissed off whenever they came in from brake work and saw the estimate.
