2003 G35 fully stock has been smelling like burning rubber/oil recently and has been having some decrease in acceleration power. Last oil change was about 1,800 miles ago. Full synthetic This is how the oil is looking on the dipstick. Someone please help should i top it off with a quart and see?
The best way to check oil on these cars is parked on a level surface, let the engine cool overnight. Check the dipstick when the engine is cold.
These cars burn a lot of oil. Mine burns a quart every 600 miles. If I push the car pretty hard, my car smells like burning plastic also. I think it might be plastic bag residue that got caught on my exhaust pipes a long time ago though.
The burning rubber/oil smell and decreased acceleration could indicate an oil leak, overheating, or exhaust issue. It's worth topping off the oil with a quart to rule out low oil levels, but also inspect for any leaks and check for issues with belts, hoses, or the exhaust system that could be causing the smell.
