Crank No Start
Crank No Start
Hello guys this is my first time posting sorry if i post it in the wrong place or if i post it the wrong way just want some help, I have a 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe with a 6 speed manual transmission. I was driving one day on the highway for about an hour or so and i was getting off on an exit and my car just shuts off. Everything inside the car was still On dash lights were on, radio was on as well along with my music. the lights on the dash were on like if i was in accessory mode before turning the car on. I tried starting and it just cranked. I had no check engine light either. I did connect my obd2 either way and it read P0345 and P0340 which is camshaft position sensor. I replaced both camshaft position sensors as well as my crank just because i heard when 1 goes out the other ones are close to going out. But once i tried starting it, it wouldn’t start it just cranks. Battery is fully charged no blown fuses, it has oil so it couldn’t have blown. My dad said it could be timing chain/belt issue where it jumped a tooth but i never heard any Loud knocking sound or banging sound in the engine so if it was loose i think i would’ve heard it. the engine doesn’t even try to start it just cranks like the starter is just spinning it sounds lightweight it most likely can be timing but im not completely sure. Thank you guys! Have a good day!
When you turn the key to engine on, can you hear the fuel pump come on. Perhaps you are not getting any fuel. Put some gas in the tank, just in case your fuel gauge is not working and try starting it again. It could be an electrical issue with the fuel system or just a bad fuel pump. Below is a link to the Infiniti service manuals to help you with diagnosing and fixing your issues. Good luck and keep us posted.

Don't just assume that there is still gas in the tank, I'd pull the back seat (two little tabs you pull towards the front of the car, directly in the middle of where the occupants would sit at the front of the seat cushion, then lift the seat up and it pops right out, takes about 10 seconds to remove) then pull the fuel pump side cover (right side, passenger side for LHD cars, you turn the diamond to fit the square shape, 45 degree turn on those weird little clips), then pull the fuel pump and visually look in the tank to make sure there's fuel on that side.
I've seen everything from ruptured fuel lines emptying a tank, to a small hole in a tank, to a bad fuel sender or instrument cluster making people THINK there's fuel in it, to one half of a saddle tank being empty. Never just assume there's actually fuel at the fuel pump.
Is the car still throwing any codes?
Is the NATS security light solid red when cranking the engine?
