Water in gas tank HELP!!

So this morning I decided to put some spare gas I had laying around in the back yard and when I jumped in it to go to the store it ran fine for 5 minutes until I got to the stop sign at the end of the street, as soon as I took the turn it started to bog/misfire basically running like **** so I pulled to the side of the road and tried to give it gas but it bogged and died out. It would turn back on the first couple times but die immediately now it tries to turn on but just shakes and bogs. So I went to the gas station thinking if maybe I put enough fuel it would at least turn back on (there was barely anything in the gas jug) but nope now it makes a grinding noise like the starter if I keep trying to crank it smh. So I’m wondering if I drain the fuel out and put new gas in it would it fire back up or did I ruin my motor ? It was running perfect before this.

If you are sure that there is water in the gas tank, filling the tank with fresh gas will not help. Water is heavier than gasoline, so it will settle on the bottom where the fuel pump pick up is located. You can try pouring some dry-gas in the tank and see if that helps. Draining the fuel tank is no easy task. I don't think there is a drain plug on the gas tank, so you have to remove it from the car, which requires dropping the exhaust. I assume you have a coupe. You can gain access to the gas tank by removing the back seat and the floor cover under it. The fuel tank cover that has the fuel pump and electrical connectors can be removed, allowing you to siphon out the gas. You can gain access to the service manual that will guide you to the procedure in the link below.

It was definitely water I tried disconnecting a fuel line in the engine bay and turning the key until it came out but it wouldn’t come out unless I kept turning it over and I was scared I would fry my starter so I pulled the back seat out disconnected the fuel pump and pumped the gas out with a manual pump. I put fresh gas in and it was misfiring really bad so I left it running and went down to the gas station With my brother to grab more fuel and put it in the tank thinking it would dilute whatever water was left in there but I literally got All the gas out and put a old towel inside the tank and dried it pretty good so I left it running for a good hour and it runs better but definitely not 100% I’m going to grab some HEET tomorrow that my brother recommended and see if it will fix the misfiring
