Thanks, guys; very helpful. I'm going in with $500 over for a 6M, take it or leave it. They can call me back when they're ready to sell at that price. I may or may not have purchased something else in the meantime. I'm betting big money that they'll take it. Dealer will be Harte Infiniti in Hartford (or I'll go to Boston area, if need be...)

I've been doing research on this forum as well as getting quotes online from different websites. I've been contacted by three different dealers in my area (Atlantic, Competition, Massapequa) with quotes via e-mail or by phone. Two of them tried to sell me what they "just got in" back in Feb. but I told them firmly that I won't be interested in really looking till March-April. After getting several phone calls since that time I kept declining and finally I acknowledged one of the salesmen from Atlantic that I wanted to know the Invoice price of an '05 6MT with aero, sunroof, and splash guards. I also mentioned VPP and a lot of people getting a few hundred over invoice. The salesmanager said he can do $400 over invoice and would get back to me with the Invoice price but never called back. Then I got an e-mail from Competition Infiniti's Internet Manager and he offered $200 over invoice so I went there and was sold! My 6MT coupe is on order from Japan and should be coming here by 4/8/05. It was $32644 + 200.

$200 over invoice for an ordered 6mt 2005 coupe!!!

Nice deal, I ordered mine for about $660 over plus $300 document processing fee. Did you pay any extra fees beside tax/tags?

$34k out the door (including tax, title and license) for a 6MT coupe, premium and aero.

Of course, that was with VPP.

Guys... Don't forget they get 1.5% on holdback. That is around 500.00 in the pocket. This is not listed on an invoice sheet... even if they show you the invoice. Buy law they can't screw with the invoice But, the money for holdback is in there for them. It's a deal the manufacturer gives them for people who know how to buy cars ... and may not know about holdback. So if you stick with 500 over invoice.... remember they are really making 1000 for the sale. That is why you stick to your guns with $$ you want to give over invoice.

I just bought a loaded 6MT for 300 over invoice. I let them know, I knew, they were making another 515.00 a total of 815.00 for the sale.... If I wanted to press the issue .. I have had dealers tell me they will split the holdback ... give me 50% of it off the car. But then the $$ over invoice may be a bit harder to play with ... In the end if the money you are willing to pay over invoice is less then the 50% of the holdback ... Let them have 100% of the holdback .. and stick to the $$ over invoice ... JUST LET THEM KNOW YOU KNOW ABOUT IT! Also if you have financing and you know for sure all the options... and don't need a test drive... and the need to ask so many questions... You can close this deal in 20 minutes like I did on my lunch break.

Your best deal on buying a new car is always going to be right after Labor Day and the end of the year, or first of the year on leftovers...
You're obviously fond of your haggling abilities... I'm confused, you're waiting 10 months for the "right" time to get an offer similar to one that many others have managed to negotiate in February. Perhaps you're the one getting haggled? If you feel like that is unlikely, you should consider buying from another dealer.

How much was the car before tax/title/license?

Appreciate the encouragement haha. I've already tried 2 of them, and I'm in no hurry. They don't have 2.9APR right now and I don't have time to fly out of town to drive a car home. I'll start calling other dealers in the state soon enough. Local to me, the cars are in high demand and they know it. I've bought many, many cars, Q4 is always the best time, I've paid invoice on the dot the last 2 cars, so I'll be OK After labor day isn't 10 months away either genius

You're right... its not 10 months away (I was referring the the end of year comment), but the funny this is -- I couldn't tell you when Labor Day is! Probably because it's an insignifcant day to me as I've never had to mark it down on my calender as "car-buying day!" You see sales isn't about timing, even though it may appear that way. It's about how bad a car salesman (in this case) is wanting to sell you the car. My guess is that you walking into that dealership with that "I have a business degree" pompous attitude leaves the salesman overly excited in helping you leave the lot -- without a car. Fortunately, for people like you there is Labor Day, end of quarters, and end of years -- which means even the worst buyer has a chance to buy a great vehicle at a great price, only because the car salesman has a higher threshold of tolerating pompous bull**** because it's quota time! True story!

I'm going to have to agree with Sales on this one. If you're truly a good businessman, you can get the dealers to deal anytime. As far as the market conditions in your area, I don't believe there are any markets hotter than the Bay Area and you routinely see people getting $500 over invoice in the Bay Area. And as ALL good businessmen know, you don't need a business degree to be a deal maker. All the degree does is open doors, but the doors are always open at Infiniti!

There is a dealer in my area (NE OHIO) that has an 04 coupe brand new never titled. When I called about a used one on there lot, the salesmen was trying to sell me this one, sayin that he could go way under invoice if I was intrested. You could look to see if the dealers in your area have any older ones like this that are still new, that may save you some serious money. This on isnt what I was looking for, but I may consider it if its still around when Im ready to buy. I added a link to there site for anyone intrested. Peace.
