Quality of iForged wheels???
Quality of iForged wheels???
Just got my 05 Ivory Pearl 6MT and I'm looking to get some wheels...I've considered iForged but heard from some friends that they aren't the best quality (i.e. they chip and they bend easily). Wondering if anyone had any experience or advice...Thanks...

i always thought their quality was top notch, but their customer service and wait times are horrible. i've yet to hear about someone bending or chipping their rims.

My wheels are perfect and i havent had a problem with them at all. Quality is top notch. Service wasnt bad either. I got my wheels in 6-7 weeks which is what they advertise when you order them with the brushed aluminum finish. The quality issues are old problems and have been fixed. It think it was problems with clearcoat....never with wheels bending easily. They now use ceramic coating which is alot stronger to resist scratching, chipping, etc. You cant go wrong with them especially if you go with 20s....they are an eye catcher.
My friend also has them on his car and hes really happy with them. No problems either

I've read threads on this forum about clear coat coming off, pitting problems, problems with staining on brushed finishes, chrome finish coming off, etc... All of these problems can be found by doing a SEARCH (or Advanced Search) in the "Wheels, Tires, Brakes & Suspension" Forum here on driver.
IMO, I would not get I-Forged due to what I've read, it's unfortunate because next to the PIAA Super Rozza's the I-Forged Evo's are my favorite wheel by far!
If you have I-Forged wheels and have had a good experience please don't come down on me for this post. I have not read many/any people complaining about VOLKS, RH, Maya's, HRE, PIAA's, etc... however all of the complaints I've read have been about I-Forged, that's why I'm sharing.

The chipping issue is old. They used to use a clear-coating process that was fairly soft and would chip off the wheel in areas such as around where the lug nuts were installed. They've since changed to a new ceramic coating that is extremely durable.
Some people went without the clear coating because they didn't want the problems with the chipping or because they felt the wheels had more shine without it. The unprotected wheels were difficult to keep maintain and required a lot of labor-intensive polishing to maintain their lustre.
From some discussions with a couple of buddies of mine, the poor customer service reputation was well deserved. Since they've started using a few outside vendors they've apparently cleaned up their act considerably.
I've been a fan of their wheel for some time so I finally believe they have their act together and have ordered a set from Paul at Avalon racing. I was told it would take about 8 weeks for my order. That 8-week wait is finally up so hopefully I'll be posting some pictures of the wheels when they finally get here...

ye i have iFORGED victories, and then are great quality rims, if you dont curb or ruff up your rims yourself, and keep them clean. we get a lot of carbon off the brembos, you dont want that to sit on the polish too long on any rims. i mean come on, ive had chrome my whole life before i got the g35...20's,22's and it doesnt just "fall off" and dont worry about bending rims...these are forged, you would have to hit something pretty damn hard.
Only spent ~5 minutes searching... couldn't find the chrome chipping posts, but I did find these interesting posts...
Blemish problems
Clear Coat Chipping/Delaminating
Non-Polished finish stains
bent rim
So, you see, there have been issues in the past. And yes, I have read threads, just can't find them now, about the chrome chipping off due to a bad chrome process.
The wheels look really nice, but others have had problems and EVERYONE knows that the I-Forged Customer Service Reputation is sub-par at best.
