Re: How many here are getting cold feet?

my hesitancies while waiting are twofold.
1. should i switch my order to the sedan
2. i keep reading of all new things coming on the G, but that would be with every car. new year, new features.

No cold feet here and I'll be waiting for a LONG time.

When you read about the complaints, think about what you don't read. Do you ever really hear about the same thing going wrong over and over while Infiniti pretends there's nothing wrong and refuses to do a recall or a TSB? (There are many Ford Mustang Websites dedicated to consumer activism for this reason).

I'd say 90% of the complaints are from people who simply didn't realize the real-world wear and tear of performance cars. They were the first of the group to be bowled over by the car, got it without knowing any of the ramifications (and what salesperson was about to enlighten them?) and now are making sure that other people go into ownership of this car with eyes wide open.

It pays to know Datsun/Nissan/Infinit's history. They have always had, since the 240z, the aim of giving the working-class, blue-collar worker very fun performance cars that kick butt. They lost that vision in the 90s and are trying to get it back.

For me, there hasn't been a single interesting car really since the 280zx. When that car got stolen, I had to compromise with each new purchase. Sure, the Camero was fun, I enjoyed 8 cylinder power, but man was it heavy! the stopping distance was absurd!

It's as if the G35 has been tailor-made for me. There IS no other car for me.

StudlyMobile, Both G's are good in their own right. I've enjoyed both, but you must decide which one suits your needs.
I personally would order a 2k4 if buying now, but there may be some good deals out there on 2k3 models that need to be moved.
Whichever one you end up with, I'm sure you'll be happy with.

Z06, now that I read your post about why you're getting cold feet (not so much to do with the car as with your current situation) I'd say best to wait.

1. The '04 model year will be even better anyway

2. You already have a very fun car

3. Houses and condos should come before multiple cars for the tax benefits

4. Job hunting is no fun. You may have to take a pay decrease just to keep the cash flowing.

I think the voice of your conscience is telling you that you really don't need the aggro right now. We all have our limits, seems like you're meeting yours. Timing is everything. If the timing isn't right, let it lie, don't force it, take a break.

And to address the "Fear of Japanese cars" issue, while you're taking a break, read the book "The Reckoning." It's all about the history of the auto industry, focusing on Nissan and Ford.

Re: How many here are getting cold feet?

LOL - yeah this was an old dead thread. So old in fact that I have my G35 Coupe now (had it for a month actually). Actually I met you shellycat at the G35 meet/drive in Socal 3 weeks ago!

Well, needless to say, the cold feet I had was all for nothing. Love the car, and glad I got it. My job situation is still shaky, but still have it, and worst case scenario is I get 8 months of severance, a portion of my bonus and collect unemployment. I decided not to buy a house within the next year (real estate prices are wacked now), so I have plenty of savings to live off of if I need to, so I could stay unemployed for 2 years and continue to enjoy the G35. I leased the G for only 2 years anyway. I have no intention of being unemployed for more than a month, but its nice to know I can if I need to.

Still struggling with getting comfortable driving a Japanese car, but I'm slowly getting used to it. One day at a time... I still have my Z06 whenever I want to feel patriotic

Re: How many here are getting cold feet?

I have had my car for some time now and I have had absolutely not one problem with it. Just hit 10k. My only problem is figuring out how many 330's I will toast.

Oh no way! LOL! Were you there when we went around in a circle and said what our handles were? Who were you standing by? This is too funny!

LOL - I don't remember who I was standing by (I can't remember names for the life of me), but I was the last one to say who I was and what my handle is. So I was standing next to the guy who organized it, since he went first. I was talking a lot with the folks who drove out from Phoenix.
