Hi All, I got a new OEM steering wheel off ebay (the leather on mine wore out after 1.5 years!!). Anyway, does anyone know or have a DYI on replacing the steering wheel?

Thanks

See if you can send a PM to Canton_G35.......(I know he hangs out on G35Frenzy)
He has installed several for others.

I haven't looked at the G's steering wheels, but ive done steering wheels in the past.

GENERALLY...

park car with steering wheel straight.

first unplug your battery (-) terminal and hit brake pedal for 15-20 sec.
this is to remove all electricity from the capacitors, etc. so the airbag
does not accidentally depoly.

There should be torex screws around the bottom of your steering wheel
(Might be hidden under cover) remove those and your center of steering wheel
should come off.

Unplug the airbag harness and other control harnesses.

Loosen the center nut about 4 revs, but don't remove it off the bolt.

Pull steering wheel at 3 oclock, 9oclock, then 6oclock, 12 oclock
and it should pop out of its socket. then remove the center nut.

Remove steering wheel.

should be very similar.

That doesn't sound too bad. I was always a fan of the 05 steering wheel.

For what it's worth, the leather on my steering wheel started to crack and wear out where I positioned my hands during driving. I have an 04 AT. I took it back to the Infiniti dealer who agreed with me that this was a defect and would be replaced under warranty. I waited a couple of weeks as the part needed to come from Japan. The replacement steering wheels is fine. Hope this helps someone.

I had the same problem - steering wheel and shifter leather wore out after 1.5yr and the dealer said when I come in for my 30k mile service they will replace both under warranty.
