6 miles on mine as well. It went straight from the port to the dealer (Riverside (CA) Infiniti), then on a truck to my driveway in Oregon with the protective plastic still on it, inside and out.

yes, you're right... but that wasn't the original point you were trying to make. It was obvious that you didn't put much thought into the thread title. If you had you would have realized he ordered his car, and wouldn't have then proceeded to follow up with....

so let's not try to save face now.

Do you think the dealer might have got your "ordered" car from another dealer? In which case it was test drove a couple of times.

My car had 6 miles.

When I was in college (a few decades ago), I worked at the marine terminal in Baltimore, where all the European and some Japanese imports arrived. I was very reluctant in buying any import by what I experienced. First, when a dozen or so longshoremen have to move 2500 cars off a ship in a day, there is alot of abuse of the vehicles that goes on, primarily speeding and over-reving. All cars are put in a lot and then a crew will go and mark the destination of each car from a print out file. The cars are then re-distributed to different lot according to their destination and mode of transportation. Some of the cars are driven to the rail yard section of the terminal where they are driven onto the rail cars. The rest are driven to a trailer pick-up lot for loading onto trucks. So as you can see it's easy to put on a few miles jockeying the cars around. The worst part is that you are looking at unskilled laborers doing all the driving around, some of which can't even drive a stick and are stalling the cars, grinding the gears, burning rubber and even driving around whithout fully releasing the emergency brake. So I hate to burst your bubble for those that have just a few miles, but those couple of miles will propably be the hardest miles your car will ever see.

I think for the most part, the number they write in the documentation is some random guess of what the mileage will be. There was some form I had to sign that said my car had 20 miles on it, but when I got the car it had 11. It's just a blank space they need to fill for the paperwork.
