To the guys that tinted your windows, why?
To the guys that tinted your windows, why?
Honest question here.
I know that the belief is that tinted windows make a car look cooler. I guess I can agree with that.
But when you are driving a car that looks as nice as the G, don't you want to be seen in it? Part of the fun of driving a luxury/sport car is being seen rolling in the car.
I doubt anyone honestly tints for reasons of heat reduction, so I'm just curious to hear people's thoughts on this.

While we're at it, why do people rebadge to skyline? And what losers out there are driving ATs?
Seriously though, I find that window tint makes the car look cleaner, helps reduce glare/blinding sunlight, definately keeps the car cooler in the summer, and gives you privacy when you want it.
Besides, if you want to be seen in your car, everyone knows you gotta roll with the windows down

obviously you don't live in florida.....I don't even have my windows tinted yet, i will in 2 weeks, but I can't stand driving around without it. I feel like im in a fish tank, plus i feel more like home in my car with them done.

I like it firstly because it just looks really cool to me on the outside. I also like it because it gives a certain level of privacy for when I'm driving around (I don't care to "be seen" in my car). Another reason I like it is when I am driving on the highway, and headlights behind me are reflecting into my eyes from the side-view mirrors....the tints really help out with that. Another reason is during the summer when I park my car out in the sun for a couple of hours at a time, it keeps the interior MUCH cooler than if I did not have the tints. When I first had my Coupe, I did not have tinted windows and it would get INSANELAY hot in the sun because of the black/black color combo...I was surprised when I actually noticed that the interior was cooler than normal with the tints! Lastly, it blocks out the sun if you are driving and the sun happens to be setting on your left or right side...the tints kick butt at reducing the sun's glare.
Basically, window tints have the initial "cool factor" but they come with a bunch of other benefits that I really enjoy.

If you want to be seen and want UV protection, heat reduction, then there are different shades of tint that one could choose to go with..........you're not stuck w/ the traditional limo look.......there's also light tint that offers 99% UV blockage along w/ some heat reduction properties.
Personally, I did it for several reasons:
1. It keeps my black leather interior cooler
2. Keeps out UV rays, which can damage the interior.
3. I wear contacts, and the excess sunlight can bother my eyes at times.
4. Looks a lot better
5. Adds a bit of privacy
6. In Southern California, you'd fry without tinted windows on an all black car.
If you couldn't think of these reasons on your own, you must be in the 3rd grade....
