Before Infiniti came out with the G35...

... did you even consider them [Infiniti] as a choice when you were thinking about purchasing a new car?

For me, it's like Infiniti came out of nowhere...prior to the release of the G35 I never even considered driving a Q, or J or anything... in fact back then if you has asked me to name two cars Infiniti makes...I would have just stared at you with a blank look. Is this just me?

I am in the same boat, I never thought of purchasing an Infinite before the G35 came out. I would much rather have purchased an Acura or a Lexus because they had better performing cars IMO. After the G35 was released, Infiniti has become a major player in the Japanese luxury market.

Same here, but again....with the release of the G35, they were aiming to hit a different market. Before then you'd only find executives driving them as well as people who wanted to be unique or were always loyal to the brand. I think Infiniti scored big time.

i personally didnt really consider infiniti. Back then, i thought infiniti was a car for older people because of the old school designs. I always just thought infiniti was expensive or something and thats why only a few had it. I was more into acura

frankly i hated the early infiniti designs... its since the G (and now the M) that it got my head turning. I would think abt the infiniti much.

The J and I were (and are) blah!!

However its good to see them making bolder designs probably one big factor they are doing well.

As, Carlos Ghosn said, "by looking at our cars, one should get the feel of its perfomance" -- or thing to that effect.

I would have gotten into a Q or a J30...I liked the J30 because it was rear wheel drive and it's competition back then were all front wheel drive. The Q was always one of my favorites...when it first came out it was more sport than luxury. I think in America the Q had the first Japanese V8 then Lexus...but I'm probably wrong.

Imma have to say Yes, kind of.
Although im not to fond of the old Infiniti designs, I was always a big Nissan fan, and an avid follower of the BNR-34 and R33 series Skylines in Japan. When they created the V35 series with the VQ35, I fell in love with it. When i discovered that Infiniti was going to release the G35 as the V35 U.S. counterpart, I highly considered it. Nissan makes a damn good car. Infiniti is all Nissan with the fancy name. (all our parts have Nissan all over it). Like Acura to Honda, Lexus to Toyota, etc. So when the funds were right, I didnt think twice.

I always thought the last G20t was quite nice looking, but the lack of power really turned me off.

The I35 was a nice car, but it was a luxury cruiser, like the Lexus ES300. Not very exciting for my tastes.

The 2002 Q45 got my attention to Infiniti. Awesome engine plus some of the coolest headlights in the industry. But it was the G35 coupe that got me scrambling to go to the Infiniti dealership. As soon as I saw the coupe's concept pic in Motortrend, I was virtually sold.

The new M35/45 takes Infiniti yet another step forward. These guys are on a roll. I'm hoping for the GTR to be released as an Infiniti and an all new ultra luxury Q to compete with the world's best sedans.

I also have an equal liking for Acura, and to a lesser degree Honda and Mazda.

The 2000+ G20's were in consideration for me. It was either a used one of those or a new G35.
