Soon to be an '05 Coupe owner

My Ivory Pearl G35 Coupe 6 speed is on the way! The car was already on order with the dealership and is scheduled to show up April 22nd, but my sales lady said when they are spoken for they can show up sooner. Does anyone have any experience with that? I'm not holding my breath on it showing up early.

So what is the generally accepted break in procedure for the G? I thought I read somewhere that someone said 1500 miles?

Anyway, just wanted to say hey.

If you have already put a deposit down on your particular car and have a VIN # its considered your car, so usually they will show up a week or probably 3 days earlier. Thats what happened with me was told to be here 3/25 but came 3/21 instead. Good luck and just dont go blasting over 90mph and you will be okay. Holla back

If you read the manual it says not to go over 4k RPMS until 1200 miles. Do a search on this forum..there is a lot of info about the break in procedure. I have just over 400 miles on my car and have driven like a grandma...except every now and then ill push it at a stop light or on the highway. Anyways...congrats on your new ride..my first 400 miles have been amazing.

My wife is a grandma and her 05 CPE 6MT was ordered on 1/27. It will replace her 1991 Mitsubishi 3000 GT 5MT which she has had since new.

I'm not sure you'd want that grandma to break in your car.

I plan on babying it for the break in period. Plus, I'll need some time to get used to the new clutch so I'll be taking it easy on her anyway. I'm leasing the car for 48 months I think. What should I expect for payments? We did a rough estimate at the dealer, but it wasn't final.

Not sure about leases, I, myself would never think about leasing an automobile. Always pay off in cash at transaction.

How much do you plan on putting down? What is the price you are paying for the car? I put about 4900 total at signing for a 42 month lease. The car was about 37k out the door. I am paying 450 a month.

What I'm doing is selling my current car and using that money to make the lease payments. I can technically put down a lot, up to $18k or so. I'm probably better off putting that money into my mutual funds or at least the bank and just making payments with $5k or so down. I think the rough numbers she gave me was $460 a month for 48 months. That was just a rough number to give me an idea. We have not discussed price of my actual car yet.

When did you put down your deposit? I put mines down on Feb 24/05, the sales guy told me my IP G35C / sport pkg/ AT will be arriving in mid April....

Back in 1999, I got my Prelude a month ahead of schedule.....

Well actually, I havn't put a deposit down. She told me all I had to do was tell I her I wanted it and they would put my name by it and it might show up sooner now that it had a buyer. I told her that I wanted the car yesterday. So I only have to wait for 22 days, which isn't bad at all. I don't know if that is standard practice, not taking a deposit, but she has worked with my dad before so maybe it was done in good faith?

How long have the 05 Coupes been out? I keep hearing it's hard to get the manuals, is it because they havnt been out long?

Just some personal advice...I'd put down a deposit if you're 100% sure its the car you want. I've ordered a car from Grubbs, and I wasn't required to put down a deposit...now I'm paranoid that someone that is willing to pay sticker will walk in and want my exact car, and will refuse to wait 3 months for the car. I'd like to think car salesmen are honest (hehe) but for some reason I think if they cant get an extra $1000 out of someone else, my car will be gone, and then I get a phone call about some "transport" delays. If $500 won't take food off your table, I'd do it. But like I said, I'm paranoid.

Thats a good point. I'll ask her about putting a deposit down, but like I said, she has dealt with my family before and I think it would be uncharacteristic of her to sell off my car after she told me it was mine.

That's a little bit different... I'm in a different state than Grubbs and have dealt with them only over emails and phone calls. If shes a family friend I would't worry about it to much.

I wouldn't go so far as to say she is family friend, but she has sold us cars before.
