The New G35C is IN THE HOUSE!
The New G35C is IN THE HOUSE!
Got my car last night. It's a 5A Ivory Pearl, Premium, 18" Wheels, w/ rear spoiler. Dealer told me to keep it under 4500 RPM for the first 1200 miles. Quick takes:
PROs:
- Handling is stellar - has the "go-kart" feel I was hoping for
- Seats seem VERY comfortable
- Power = impressive, especially since I haven't challenged 4500 RPM yet
- Brakes are grabby
- Looks even better than expected
- Dealer left front license plate bracket off (and won't attach them unless specifically requested)
CONs:
- HUGE blind spot on left side
- Missing a few creature comforts: memory seat, mute button for stereo, trip computer?,
- Powered seat return always reverts to full-upright position
- Uneven power delivery at times
Overall, I've really enjoyed the first 75 miles or so. Let me know if you agree or disagree with the above.

I fixed the Blind spot thing with those little mirrors. Couple of bucks each at the auto parts store and they work great.
Congratulations.

Not to be a smart ***, but mute button = power button on your steering wheel. If you do it while listening to a CD, and turn it on again, it will pick up right where you left off with no hesitation. It was demonstrated to me as a "feature" of the system when my car was delivered, so I'm assuming it's meant to be used that way.
There's a trip computer if you get the Nav package.
As for the blind spot, I've never seen it.

Thanks for the tip on the Power button! I'll use it!
The Nav System makes an awfully expensive trip computer! I'd rather have a paper map and a simple trip computer that indicates miles to empty, avg. fuel economy, etc.

Congrats on the new ride dude. Handling is great I'll agree, Seats suit me too. Good power, altho once you get used to it, another 20 would be nice. Brakes= typical 'G' altho not as grabby as my Sedan's were. Yeh baby, looks nice up close and personal. Got no choice on the front licence here.
Blind spot is a PITA but little mirrors will solve that for ya,
I miss the memory seats that were on my Sedan, I believe someone said you can mute or pause the CD's by hitting the power button on the Steering Wheel, and odometer is only trip computer if you didn't get the navi, Power seat only returns seat part, not the upright part,
Uneven power delivery? Only down low where the torque is least, but once past 2-3k it's fine. Keep the revs up for good throttle response. G/L bro

Congrats. This is the blind spot technique I use and it's almost got me not even looking anymore.

I use a blind-spot-elimination method for mirror adjustment similar to this, but simpler:
While stopped, first adjust the center mirror to your satisfaction. The adjust each side mirror to just overlap the center mirror's image. In other words, the left mirror 's right edge should show a tiny bit of what the center mirror's left edge shows, and the right mirror's left edge should show a tiny bit of what the center mirror's right edge shows. This way the three mirrors have a continuous view, usually wide enough to show anyone in your blind spot. Combine that with occasional over-the-shoulder glances and you should be quite safe.

one more w/perl ivory/6MT & premium pkg. so far, i've only heard of one other one in sacramento that matches... lots of the silver & blue running around though...
good initial thoughts on your car...the blind spot on the left is a little annoying, but there's not a lot of rear end to worry about in this car and the mirror does give a pretty good view.
i do think the biggest waste is the compass... sure, if you have a NAV package you get a trip computer... but seriously, how often have you panicked cuz you didn't know if you were going N/S/E or W??? that's such a '90s option...
one thing i do love...the driver's seat!

Re: The New G35C is IN THE HOUSE!
I feel like I am a little ghetto here because I upgraded to the 6MT coupe from a fargin Hyundai Accent! This thing has features that I only saw in other people's cars, like A/C, cruise control, sick seats, f'in POWER!!!!
I am just kidding around, but my Hyundai was the car that I had in college, and now that I have been working a couple of years, I decided to buy the G coupe. I love it. I have some of the same complaints as everyone else.
1. How hard is it for Bose to include a "mute" or "pause" button? That is insane that they don't have one... and kind of ridiculous that I have to turn off my stereo as a way of muting it... stupid in my opinion
2. That blind spot that everyone talks about can be overcome by attentive driving. I don't drive my car slow by any means, so I am always checking all mirrors constantly to know where every car on the car is with respect to me. Easy to get in and out of traffic.
3. One thing that I do wish is that either the driver's seat went down further (as to have more head room) or the ceiling was bigger (rather have the seat go down more as to keep the drag low). I am only 6' 0" tall, so I don't think that I am asking for much.
Other than that, I love my G, and I drive it with a passion (only on sunny days when I can open it up).
Congrats to everyone that just got one. Enjoy it.
Jaime

I'm from Houston also. Just drove home my CB 6MT coupe thursday. Got it from North Infiniti. I've been doing nothing but gawking at the car in the garage for the last 2 days.
