the auto tranny dipstick is just about where you'd expect for a front engine rear wheel drive car.
Right at the firewall just toward the passenger side from center.
The trick is actually knowing how to gt an accurate reading....
Warm the car, making sure to move it through all gears, pull onto a level surface, with the car idling....
Undo the 10mm bolt and remove and wipe the dipstick...
Then reinsert the dipstick turned 180 degrees from normal position, pull it, read it... put it back in correctly, and reinstall the bolt.

The oil dipstick on the G and the Z are fairly awkward. Not to mention the same hole drains some of the oil from the head back to the oil pan. I've learned to deal with it. When pulling the dipstick, I guide the dipstick until I see the portion you read it with and then grab hold of it and pull it out slowly so it doesn't fling oil or touch other parts. I try to keep it somewhat vertical as well since the oil doesn't seem to like to stay in one place on the dipstick. Reading it is a bit difficult as the tube tends to have some residual oil all the time and the sides get a light coat on it. I usually take a few readings to be sure, but I lookf for the point where the oil is coating the width of the dipstick. The cross hatching in it isn't very good though, so oil also doesn't seem to stick very well. I may try and scuff that area up a bit with something abrasive to see if that helps. I definitely do agree it is harder to get a good reading. Not anything that is a total pain in the butt thouogh.
