I went to an Infiniti dealership about a month ago and ordered a 6 speed coupe, blk/blk with just sunroof, aero pkg and splash guards. When the dealer searched for cars that were going to arrive to the dealership this month, he found the exact car with options with a delivery date of 4/8/05. I've been exchanging e-mails with the dealer for the past few weeks and last week, I asked him what the status of my order was. He replied and said it should arrive next week (which was last week by the way). Then, after not hearing anything from him last week, I e-mailed him again asking what the deal was, and he replied with this:
"All coupes are beig held at the port. I do not know when they will be released. I still have the coupe without aero pkg which we can install here at the dealership. I also have the coupe with stone interior. Please let me know if you want to wait or take the ones I have here. I look forward to hearing back from you."
Why would my car be held at the port if I ordered it?? Does this make sense? Is this guy lying or telling the truth? I responded with this..
"Why is it being held at the port?? If I were to take the one in your lot, how many miles would it have? The reason why I don't want to take the car that's in your lot is because it might have been test driven by other individuals and I do not want that. Please get back to me as soon as you can."
Then he responded with this:
"The cars are being held at the port because the supply of coupes at dealerships is very high. Once the supply decreases they will release the new vehicles. As for the one on the ground, it has under 15 miles. It has not been test driven at all."
Is this guy trying to sell me the cars that are at the lot or what? I'm getting pissed off!!

15 miles is nothing and I don't think that was test-driven. I don't think you're being jerked around, I just think this is your salesman's attempt to sell you a car on the lot. Just say no and that you'll hold out for your car since he originally told you it would be here 4/8/05 (which is 6 days away, give or take a week or two). Obviously, you will get a better price if you take a car off the lot.
My ordered car was supposed to arrive yesterday. When I called today, it has a new arrival date of 04/08/05. This change supposedly happened today. So maybe my car is being held too. Anyways, I feel your pain. There was a post a couple days ago about cars being held at the port.....
Excuse my ignorance. Why wouldn't you buy a car that has been test driven? My take is that if the car can't be driven, then it's not worth having. I thought the G is a well built car and that's why I spent my hard earned money on one. Otherwise I would have bought a CLK430 instead.

7K rpm is the default from the factory. Just because it has 15 miles dosent mean anything. The come into the port with 20+ miles sometimes. The randomly pull cars from the assembly line for QC test drives. Over the whole break in period, 8 miles is nothing (most com into the port with 7 miles).

I think I'm going to wait for the one I ordered, but if it takes longer than 2 weeks from the delivery date (4/8/05) I just might end up taking the one off the lot. I need a new car very soon because the current car I'm driving has a crapload of problems
