Badges?

Is there a safe way to remove the dealers badges and stickers? I don't have the car yet but I think the dealer uses a badge that looks like the factory ones, and the broker uses a decal of some type. I don't want to be a driving ad, I want to keep it clean.

they put them on when they get the car. let them know before u pick it up that u dont want anything from them on it. they have to listen. its that simple.

And if they put them on anyway tell them to remove them before you take ownership. That way you don't have to screw around with trying to remove them.

Unfortunatley it's too late for that. The car is on it's way to me from the dealer via a broker.

I deal with a local broker that can get any car for you at a great price. He has been in my town since 1959 and has a good rep. He also gave me $4000 more on my trade in than the dealer would. He got the car from the same dealer I was dealing with, even put me on a conference call with them to make sure the car had the options I wanted.

All the cars I saw at the dealers lot already had the dealers badge on it so that's the reason I was asking how to remove them.

Warm the badge with a hair dryer/heat gun for a few minutes, then grab some dental floss, place it in between the badge and the car and start working your way left and right until you peel it off.
For any glue residues, just use a glue remover such as "Goo Gone" (can be picked up at any hardware store). Clean the area, wax a bit and you're all set.

Thanks Speedo! I've been wondering about that myself. I assume that also works if you wanted to remove the G35 badge from the trunk lid? Or is factory badging more difficult?

Process is the same for the factory badges. Piece of cake...

yup easy to do. I would not suggest a heat gun, they get to hot and can strip the paint, use a blow drier.

I had my car delivered today and the only dealer advertisement was from the broker. Just a small 2 line vinyl sticker. I used a hair dryer and it came right off.

As a side note the bose sounds much better in this car than in the car I test drove. I'm not sure why but there is no comparison. I figured out how to get sirius tuned in and the jazz was flowing. Now I have to figure out what my account number is so I can listen on my comp at work. Also this car seems much peppier than the test drive car. I'll post another ramblings after I live with the car for a bit.

Hope you have a good strong set of finger nails too. The goo-gone did not remove as much as I thought it would. The thumb nail, mild pressure with the goo juice and a ton of patience, especially if you pull the mountain off. Go easy with the nail as you can scratch the clear coat. 3 -4 wax jobs and the remaining halos vanish. Definitely stay clear of a heat gun & go easy with the dryer. After the first couple of letters, you'll get the hang of it.
