Did they try to screw me?? I couldnt believe it...

So a couple weeks ago i got a price from Mission Viejo Infiniti here in SoCal on a 2005 G35c 6MT DG/G with premium and splash guards.

They quoted me about 1800 under sticker so i decided it was a great price for SoCal. Well after about a week of discussions through email the salesman sends me an email saying the car quoted was sold. I called my sales guy up and he says it was sold, however they have another one coming in in the first week of may but it did not have splash guards. I let him know that they were a must and he said he would find out if they could be installed AT THE HARBOR. He calls me back and says yes, they can be installed AT THE HARBOR at FACTORY PRICING. I say that is fine and i put a deposit down on the car during that very same phone call.

That weekend i went down to the dealership just so i could test drive the coupe once more and make sure it was what i wanted. My sales rep said that the car would be coming in in a week (which would be this week) and he would keep me updated.

Well yesterday i recieve the call from the manager of my sales rep (whom i have never talked to before) saying that my sales guy had a family emergency, but my car has arrived. However, there is something that he needs to let me know, that the car has between 225 and 250 miles on it, he wont be for certain until he gets it....

And i say to him "uhh... thats not the car i put a deposit down on" and he was very rude at first and insisted it was the ONLY car like it.. that they had to do a dealer trade from San Diego and it was driven through the LA basin.. i said are you not able to get anymore? he said "no there's not another single one like it coming in any time, its the only one"

I let him know that my sales guy otld me the car was coming in on the harbor and how the guards are supposed to be installed there etc etc etc. he keeps trying to sell me the car and i tell him i am paying for NEW car and his response is "it IS new.. it has never been registered" jesus.. .if it at 10,000 miles on it but was never registered, is it sitll new? give me a break man.. the best part.. he says he will compensate me .15 cents a mile .. WOW A WHOLE 37 BUCKS ON A 38000 DOLLAR CAR. I'M LOVING IT!

I guess he was able to tell i was starting to lose my patience and very close to saying i want my deposit back when he says he'll look into it and call me back. Conveniently he finds my name and deposit associated with an order number for a car due in the first week of may. And he tells me that my sales guy was trying to do me a favor by expediting it and getting me another car... and that it was all a big mixup... yeah right.. a car with 250 miles??

Sorry for the long post... up to this point i had a great experience with this dealership.. but this seems like a VERY low blow that they took on me... maybe they could get some other idiot to agree to it.. but i am insulted that they would even try.

So your still getting the car you wanted....I would have told him the only way Ill accept it is if it's flat bed'ed over. But if its that many miles, and you can confirm its a drive from SD and NOT test drives, I would've asked for much more that 37 bucks, or lifetime oil changes or something that would make it worth while...but you're right, I wouldn't feel good knowing my car has more than 10 miles on the odom...mine had 11 and was trucked in the morning I went to go close the deal.

I hate that dealership. I suggest Tustin Infiniti... a mere 15 miles north of MV, where I got mine.

well he was going to offer me the .15 cents per mile, "what we charge on mileage for leases" and i basically laughed it off and told him that was a ridiculous number... then he asked how much would it take.. and i thought about it for maybe 10 seconds then told him i have no idea.. i have never thought about it and it would never occur to me to think about it.. I think they were just trying to dump this car off on me.. god i still cant believe it.

Yeah in the end i'm going to get the car right off the boat.. just the way i should get it as far as i am concerned..

I only chose this dealership because they give me the best price. I think i may end up going to Tustin for service after this horrible experience.

Tustin treats me great. I'm slammed on a kit/wheels/supercharger, etc etc and they never give me hassle. When I go in for warranty (windows, seats, etc) i tell them 3 things.
1. don't wash it
2. don't put it on a lift
3. it doesn't leave the lot

So far every time they never let me down. Even when they needed to replace my seat, they put it in my trunk and told me exactly what upholstery shop they use to install it so they wouldn't drive it off the lot. (warrantied)

"Conveniently he finds my name and deposit associated with an order number for a car due in the first week of may. "

He's trying to get the sale booked in April rather than May. There are many reasons car salespeople have the "scummy" reputations they do. Lying is almost a pre-requisite to getting this job.

I know the fewer the better, but geez, most of the cars delivered have between 10-20 miles on them. Mine had 14 on it. It was driven at the factory for a shake-down run. All cars are driven at the factory for an inspection shake-down.

What are you doing taking your car to the dealer for an oil change! That would require them putting it on a lift..which breaks a few rules....
