Whyd they stop the Brembos?

Why did they stop production of the brembos? I want them on my 2005. Does anyone have stoptechs on their non brembo cars?

Rob at zcargarage gave me a ride in G35 sedan with stoptech brakes - 14" front and back on 18" rums and TEIN + EDFC suspension. OMFG the car stops on a dime...

the only thing is - stoptechs won't fit under 17" rims - you need to get at least 18" rims and either 13/12.9 or 14/14" rotors - that's max. with 14" rotors and 18" rim, you have a clearance the thickness of gum (as someone else put it on these forums). plus, i got quoted ~$4500 for full ste of stoptechs. add to that good rims/rubber - you're looking at $8000.

Because they had to save on cost which allowed them to spend more money on the stock mini supercharger that gave the 18hp boost!

Well you should do what I'm going to do when mine comes in. I'm buying a can of gold spray paint and a red magic marker. Why? Because it honestly means that much to me

Because people whined and moaned so much about replacement parts costs? Just like tires.

People not use to spending $2,000 per year [every year] for brake and tire maintenance as performance systems require.

They removed the Brembos for cost reasons but they bumped up the size of the rotors, so don't worry, your stopping power is still extreme.

Just paint your calipers red or gold then you will be satisfied.

I know I wont be satisfied with the OEM brakes, not because they don’t stop well, but because of fade. The 2005 that I test drove didn’t come close in terms of pedal feel compared to my brothers 2004 with the brembos. The stock brakes are good, dont get me wrong, but the brembos will be far less prone to fade on the track along with far better feel when the brake fluid temps are high.

Are these cars subject to boiling the OEM brake fluid at temp? Does the OEM brake and clutch systems share the same fluid reservoirs? What else is changed on brembos cars? Is it just pads, rotors and calipers? Or are there other parts of the system that vary from brembo to non brembo (master cylinder, fluid lines, etc)?

I track my vehicles about once a month so it is necessary to have superior CONSISTANT braking ability. I currently have the stoptech system on my Audi, and they are wonderful. If the 2005 OEM brakes are not good enough, I'll probably start with their system (front only at first).

As for the person saying that it'll cost $8000 to upgrade to 4 wheel stoptechs, I think thats nearly double the actual number. I'm going to be getting the 19s, so wheel clearance wont be an issue.

Also, I appreciate all the mocking. I cant say we dont do that on AudiWorld.

Thanks for all your replies and insight.

just pee on your calipers once a week and after about 6 months the gold color will begin to adhere and 'voila' ....
