Engine shut off on highway tonite?????

I was driving home and was in 5th gear, I then had a stretch of open road and wanted to open it up a little bit. I then get on it, i started out at 60mph and went up past 5k rpms..I then let off and was at 70mph....i then noticed that my engine was OFF!!! everythingelse was working fine..i slowly pull off the road and turn everything off and back on, all ok...

Now, I just recently installed an Injen CAI on my car, but that has been about 3 weeks now and have really gotten on the car since the install...first time I really dragged out a gear that long though....any ideas? should I take it to the dealer to get looked at? are there any recalls for 04.5 Gcoupes I should know about? Or do you think it is the intake combined with our stupid throttle body closing about 20% when floored. I bet the mixture was just too rich and got flooded with gas. Im wondering if TS flash will take care of this..any feedback is appreciated guys!!!

BTW I took the car in and paid for a reflash. They said everthing was fine. On the way home it did it again.

damn man...that really sucks!!! Im wondering what the problem is with our cars and CAIs.....but thanks for that feedback....

Don't think that it could be a recall issue on a sensor or something?

ha...maybe you're right about the hybrid....it just really sucks...i dont think its normal for an intake or any mod like that to cause your engine to shut off?? If you think about it, the intake is similar to stock, but air is traveling through a longer tube and the air is colder..

Add tape to the back of the air filter so the flow of air will go up and not create turbulence to screw up the MAF. I did this and works like a charm.

I would have to agree with Ray. MAF sensors don't like to be messed with. Any affect on the MAF sensor will automatically shut off the vehicle due to preventing engine damage. It sure it dangerous for the car to just shut off like that though.

on a seperate note ... 5k rpms in 5th gear only = 70 mph? Or is that cause the engine cut out?

Same here....I'll stick with the ZTube/K&N combo, which I haven't heard any problems with at all. I would s*it my pants if the engine shut off while flying down the interstate!
