Anyone's '04 cut off on them while driving

3 times last week my car just died on me. Didn't even notice it until I tried to make a turn and noticed the steering had tightened up. I noticed that each time it happened I was taking an exit and applying brakes about to downshift. It's at the dealership right now. Waiting on an answer. They had one other '04 that had the same problem but they still hadn't figured what was wrong. Any one come across this problem?

Yeah...just shuts off. Brake light comes on, check engine light comes on as if the key was on ACC. While I'm coasting I just start the car again and keep going.

I'll put my money on the intake. Make sure nothing is loose there.

Every other time I've seen this problem it's been due to an intake with a cone filter element. Nismo, Injen, JWT, etc... Does this happen when you're in gear or when you are idling (in neutral)?

Maybe your mass air flow sensor is bad. Possible that it could have been damaged when you put the CAI on. They're not the sturdiest things out there, and from time to time they can "just go bad"... when they do, things like this can happen.

yup i had that problem with my g35 with K&N typhoon CAI on. i think I didn't tighten the thing well. and do a quick reset and try it. Because I took off CAI for while and went to Z-tube w/K&N drop in filter, and back to CAI, and that problem was gone. just my 2cents.

Cary, G35Wizard just posted about this over here in the coupe section. Maybe it's the Y2K bug 5 years late?

shut off

03 with an aem intake. I bought the car used and it happened a couple times on the drive home. called the guy and was told its due to the intake, he'd given me the old one and i can see how it happens due to aftermarket stuff. Anyway. ive been driving the hell out of my car since and overtime its stopped. Once in a blue moon it'll turn off but not as much as when i bought the car. Weather is finally warmer so im gonna remove the intake, re-install it with a new filter and just clean around the area. 99% sure its the intake though.

It only happened when i was on hte car hard and would just drop into neutral, the rev's would fall , fall , fall and slam down to 0, car stalls and all of a sudden everythings disabled. Scary sometimes, have to put mad muscle into it if there is something directly in front of you.
