Oil Question
Oil Question
Ok I recently checked my oil (10 minutes ago) and noticed the dip stick didnt register any oil. The car was cold too! I said WTF. I have 1700 miles on my '05. I want to top it off, but I don't what happened to the oil. Is it possible that it was burned up or consumed? Is that even normal? This is my first NEW car by the way and i'm tempted to even call the dearlships service department tomorrow morning. I did a search, but nothing came up. Maybe the search engine is screwy, I dont know. Any help will be appreciated guys.
Thanks
Thanks
My G was prepped at another dealer then driven across town; I drove it home and started looking & checking; had the same problem; drove right back and they had to add over 2 quarts... I was told the car was improperly prepped at the originating dealer... Sound like bull?
I have 19500 miles now and all is well; no oil consumtion and my dealer has been great except for that one oversite; I am quite pleased with the service there.

just keep an eye on your temp guage.. if anything goes wrong its all on the dealer so yeah.. the needle should be a little below center.. Also our dipsticks are a little hard to read..

umm doesnt matter.. when you drain everything and replace the filter you'll fill up the oil to the correct level then start your engine.. this will cycle your new oil through and fill up your new filter causing the oil level to decrease..
basically run your engine (let it cycle through), then turn off your engine and let everything set.. about 2-3min before checking it again or else you'll get an accurate reading..
if you want a tip bout reading the dip stick.. it'll help if you put it under light and look for the glare.. theres nothing wrong with it cept its placed in a weird position but yea

Hi,
Just want to make sure your car was on a level surface (no sloping driveway) when checking the dip. If the car is not level, you’ll get inaccurate reading. I always check mine when the engine is cold on a level surface.
I'd contact the dealership either way, better safe than sorry.
Good Luck
