intake questions

after reading the thread about shutting off while driving due to a certain reason. (people think that the intake causes the problem.)
anyways, people were recommending the Z-tube.
my questions is that whats the difference between Z-tube and pop charger?
some people told me that they are just different types of CAI but i wasnt very satisfied and i started to research things but...
help me out! ty!

z-tube and pop charger are 2 different things...

pop charger is an exposed air filter, cone shaped.
z-tube is the intake tube that goes between your engine block and your air filter...

get the z-tube and drop-in k&n filter!

"best" is quite subjective... best in what way? loudest? yeah its loud.

for performance no, its not... you can get hydrolock (unless it has the filter thingy), and ts not a true cold air intake, the stock one gets air directly from outside the engine bay, the AEM one i believe can get engine heat...

imho, stick with just z-tube and k&n

I have the Nismo and it has the Bypass and I have not had any problems at all. Not very much in gains, you will hear and feel a little gain after 3800 RPM's. I like it still though. If you are wanting more power try a spacer or a new plenum.

Hello JDM 350GT. I've always had the z tube. I purchased and installed the pop charger over this last weekend. The installation went fairly easy. Took me about 45 mins. Here's my opinion on the pop charger. The fit and finish is not that good, especially around the rubber fittings between the pop charger and the stock air scoop. I did not feel any gains, as a matter of fact, I felt I actually lost a bit at the low end. The car hesitates at WOT. I have since swapped the original airbox back in. I looking to sell the pop charger.

I have the Stillen CAI. I just got a new catalog from them the other day and they appear to have discontinued it. Oh well, I like it and the sound it makes. No probs whatsoever.
