I did my first oil change at 500 miles then anywhere between 3-4000 miles whatever is convenient for me.. I do it myslef .. its not too hard, finding a jack small enough to get under the car is the deal... I have recently sent a sample to blackstone labs, which will give me a full anaylisis of my oil.... I will let you know whats up when I get it back....

I had my G for 3 mo. and have less then 1k mi. on it. The dealer called me and asked me If i wanted to bring it In for my free oil change. I told them I only have 1k and if i go by mi. it would be 9 mo. between oil changes. They said they would do my oil changes every 3 mo. regardless of mi. I was so happy.

K Newbies! I can help w/ the oil change situation.
The true secret is to change oil in the first 20 MILES!!!! Most of the brake in of the motor happens in the first 20 miles and therefor you must/should chage it quickly and get rid of all those metal shavings that are in there. You dont want those pumped back up to your pistons do ya? After that do another 500 that will get rid of everything and then you can do another at 3000 and change in to synthtic mobil 1. Belive me your engine will run better/longer than a disel benzo! (I just blew a motor in one of those today in fact)

Back on topic its good to change to synthetic becouse of its high lubrication but only after 3000 miles. You should not do a synthetic change right of the bat due to the fact that it will take alot longer to brake in period.

? How often should you change your oil you may ask? Well it all depends on the driver!
If you like taking your car on the track every weekend then I am sure you would want to do it at 2k.
But if you put 100miles a day to work on your freeway ride, then you can stretch it to 4000k and still be well off.

Hope this helps -GoGo

Blackstone?

You can see plenty of examples of oils/filters/drain intervals here
http://www.g-owners.com/pic_showall....lackstone+Labs

be sure to submit yours if you do one, along with your driving style and conditions. You can read all kinds of stuff about breakin or what other cars come with from the factory, or what your middle school shop teacher told ya...but these are VQs and you can figure out whats best for you.

for instance.. this whole thread? answered right there
http://www.g-owners.com/pic_display.asp?id=537

at 551 miles, the factory oil looked like 3750 miles.
