Random Mode For Mp3 Cd?
Random Mode For Mp3 Cd?
Sorry if this has been asked but I tried searching for this topic and couldn't find anything.
I was wondering if anyone had problems with their stock stereos playing an MP3 cd in any random mode. When I choose a random mode and go up or down a track, it moves up sequentially. However, if I let a song play all the way through, then the next track is random. In addition, sometimes if I manually change tracks while in random mode, the random mode turns off by itself. I asked the Inifiniti dealer about this and they said that due to different ways to set up MP3 discs that random modes are basically useless for MP3 cds and only work for regular audio CDs. Is this true or is the dealer bs'ng me?

mp3 randomness should not be a problem regardless of how you create the CD. The dealer doesn't know what he's talking about there. Think about it. if you use winamp or itunes or whatever to play your music, it can play them randomly w/o any problems regardless of your folder structure. Now, maybe the Bose radio isn't so smart as to figure out how to do that, but...
to your question: here's my experience w/ it so far. if you hit forward, it will only go fwd one track sequentially regardless of mode (it's annoying I agree. I'm wanting it to pick another random song, not what's next in order). If you change the CD that it's picked, the random mode will turn off. I think the same is true if you force it to change folders.
I don't like it either, but... I'll live w/ it for now.

*useless reply, but still...*
Yup, same experience, same stupidity...I really think it's an oversight. Why add a 6-disc MP3 player w/ extremely limited functionality?
- broken random mode...check
- doesn't read playlists...check
- non-scrolling text...check
The text issue *is* global, correct? it's not just my '05 w/ the problem?

with windows sound recorder, record a 1 second wav of silence and name it 0.wav(name doesn't matter, its just so on the cd the song is first in order). convert it to mp3 and place a copy of it in every folder on the cd (if you have no folders then just on the main cd.
turn on random feature, since 0.mp3 is the first song on every folder, when you want to play the next random song just change the folder up one and down one. you'll be in the same folder and after one second of silence a new RANDOM song plays!!
