Injen C.A.I. vs. Z-tube W/ Pop charger

Hey guys. I am planning on swapping out my stock air box and intake tube for either the Injen CAI or the JWT pop charger and Z tube combo. I believe the hosrepower gains with either system to be similar. I am curious what people's opinion was on which i should get. I am also interested in getting the best sound from the intake. Has anyone run either of these setups and encountered any problems? Thanks for all your help!

The reason why nismo has a bypass valve is becuase it goes very low located - it is harder to install, the others are located higher in the engine like your stock air box and dont have bypass because there is less chance of any water getting in I suppose. Cant wait for my warranty to expire to play with these things.

I have the Injen and it doesn't have the bypass valve. The filter sits right behind the lower grill... exposed pretty much. I used to drive around in rainstorms like that (until I got my heatshield to cure stalling... not from the rain) and had zero problems. I believe all the CAI are the same and will net the same if any HP. Either way, good luck.

You ever figure out why you were stalling?

After telling Injen about my stalling problem, they concluded that the intake was receiving too much "turbulent air" and it was messing with the MAF. It would only stall if I went to 80mph or above and took the load off the engine (clutch in or neutral). They told me if I put on a heatshield to block some of that air, the engine wouldn't stall. After the install... It no longer stalls.

Pics of the installed heatshield...[IMG][/IMG]

With the Injen, you have the option of going cold air or short ram... I think if you go short ram, you won't have stalling problems because the filter doesn't sit in a path of direct air.

Injen is crap, putting the filter down into the bumper is the stupidest thing someone can think of.

just stick with the Z-Tube + pop charger.

Hey thx for the pic. I am probably going to go with the nismo cold air intake. I live in an area in which it rains a lot so the bypass valve option it a pluss for me. Thx for all of your help guys.

I have the Pop Charge and Z tube. NO problems whatsoever, driven in torrential rain. No stalling at any speed or changing gears. The sound is awsome around 3000-4500rpm. Below 3000 sounds pretty much stock. Above 4500rpm my Borla cat back is pretty much drowning out the intake sound

newbie here...

I don't have my G yet, but I should have it in the next week or so. How much difference does that pop charger make? I don't want my car to sound like every ghetto a** civic on the street.

I would like to have a little more power, if it's done right.

Z-Tube and Pop Charger....

Here in S. Cali... it's pretty damn dusty on the road... so getting a CAI will 1. get dirty and cloged REAL soon, and 2. if it ever rains will get watered..... so I'm going with the Z-Tube + Pop Charger once I get all my tein flex
