Sorry for the loss man. Looked totalled to me bro, but who knows.
Hope the G/F is ok and that now she'll wear her S/B.
G/L with a replacement ride.

Don't be afraid, remember these 5 words:

SPEED TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS

Glad you guys were able to walk away - hopefully your girlfriend (another youngun I bet) won't have lifelong effects from her back injury - depending on what she broke it could cause her problems for the rest of her life.

How old is she? (If she's a minor I'd worry about a suit from her parents...)

Can't believe you let her ride with no belt - bad headwork there.. I have friends who don't like to belt up - I leave their a$$e$ on the sidewalk. My insurance, my responsibility, my rules. It's that simple.

That car looks finished to me. Even if they repaired it, my first ride would be to the lot to trade it. It'll never be the same.

Great post Gee....same rules apply here. Anybody who rides with me has to be belted up. Even with VDC, powerful rear wheel drive cars like the G can be a handful in the rain and you have to slow it down when the pavement is really wet- here in Florida the roads are smooth but are often "wavy" and there are a lot of spots on the pavement that pond water which makes for easy hydroplaning.

Wow. Sorry to hear about your girl. I didn't know that the injury was that serious. I hope she fully recovers. Cars really don't mean much in the grand scheme of things

HOlly crap man, sorry to see those pics.

I never wear seat belt, maybe I should start using them. 65 miles per hour isnt that fast... thought the airbags would be safe enough up to 100 miles per hour...

65 mph is plenty fast! People don't realize the killing power of cars. Thank goodness the G is a very safe car and if you wear a belt, you will not be injured too badly.

The pictures are blocked so I can't see them. since you were going 65, was this on the freeway?

If just cant think wondering me getting into a 65mph accident and braking my collar bone... Not being able to drive in a long time would kill me. I think I should start wearing the seat belt. 65mph on a head on collision to another car would defenitelly end with more than my collar bone if I dont start waring the belt.

The airbags are designed to work in conjunction with your seatbelt, not in place of it. That's what SRS stands for: SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM. They are there to supplement your primary restraint system, properly known as your seatbelt.

Without both systems in place it's possible that your airbags will do more harm than good - their inflation rates, positioning and deflation rates are based on you being restrained by your shoulder harness...

Go outside, pick a good solid brick wall, back up 100 feet and start running toward it. Run as fast as you can. At the last possible second before impact, dive toward the wall and throw your arms out in front of you. BAM! Did that hurt? You were probably going about 15MPH if you're in half decent shape. Now crank the speed up to about 40 and try it again. Then 60.

Why don't you wear your belt?

Sorry to hear about your girl friend and good you are not hurt yourself. I hope your gf will use a sb in future.
the car looks like a write off to me. Good luck on a replacement or repairs if that's how it ends up.
