Now i will admit the ride and the interior on the G is much better but I have raced against my camaro in the G (my brother was driving the camaro) on a road course and while the g can turn in a little better/faster ( much better brakes on the g) halfway through the turn the camaro starts eating the G alive. Once on the straight the G has no chance as the camaro pulls away from the G at light speed. In a three lap race the camaro beats my G every time by at least 35 seconds.
The G is a great modern sports coupe for the money but don't believe that it will smoke a well tuned muscle car on a road course. I have both and have been racing for many years ( over 20) and I have driven many types of cars and while the G is a GREAT Daily Driver it is by no means a "Race Car"

I also purchased my 2003 Cobra for less than my G coupe. Then I spent less than $1,000 in mods and can go 0-60 in under 4, capable of running 11's in the 1/4 mile. Oh and this SVT handles pretty well...except for the turn radius...it's a tank.

Look after those babies. They deserve it.

Yes and you would have spent an additional 50k to 70k on the car.

I agree with the above - equally mod out the G and then see how it compares to that old American muscle. Just because its from 15 to 20 years before I was born doesn't mean it makes sense that you compare old, heavily modified American muscle to new, stock G. People go nuts on these boards when an S2000 with intake/exhaust is compared to a stock G....It seems like you have a little bit more in that Camaro than I/E

Most American cars are crap, but a few are better than the rest(vette and vipe). The G is made for specifically for doing what its supposed to do...being a luxury sport coupe, not a track car. A stock vette and a stock G are totally different, G is a great everyday car, vette is not. Its noisy, rough, and uncomfortable, but it wasnt made to be a daily driver. Throw in $20 grand in each one, then thats a different story, cuz the G gets closer to the vettes performance, but the vette still wont have the luxury, so I guess my point is each car is better in its own way?

my friend drives a v8 mustang (rouche stage 3) and i watched him smoke a porsche 911 with bolt ons one night by a mile... take him to the twisties and its probably closer, but the mustang still wins probably. If you spend enough on suspension, you can get some of the economy performance american cars to handle better than the G.... and still cost less money. I dont compare jdm, dtm, and USDM anymore... they arent better or worse than one another, just different. We all think our cars are fast in turns and thats important (because it is), but american muscle cars are only concerned with QM time. The same way an owner of a bmw would say that his car is a well rounded, well engineered luxury car.... its whatever floats your boat.
