G35 Vs. American Cars
Great video, all things being equal I think the G look very stable on the track and I noticed what you mean about the front suspension on the G on the high bank but all in all it looked very good. I was surprised that he stayed ahead of you for as long as he did.

All cars lose value, but come on dude those cars are riduculous.
I have an American muscle car, 02 Camaro SS, and a G35c in my garage. The G is the DD and the SS is the weekend fun car with 7,200 miles on it. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. The G is a nice DD with decent power, but when I have the itch to drive something fast I get in the SS. Nothing like the raw neck snapping power it produces.

The black G was stock 5AT...I never saw the red one - it was HEAVILY modded, and didn't see the silver one anywhere on the track.
WOW!!! Some of you have some serious disrespect for domestics. As someone who buys Nissans (each bay of my garage has a Nissan product) and has a strong leaning toward Honda/Acura-Toyota/Lexus, there are several domestics that I do admire.....and the C5/C6 and CTS (reg & V) are at the top of that list.
As for comparing the G Coupe with American cars, only the GTO and Mustang sorta lean in the direction of the G Coupe. IMHO the GTO and Stang are a bit more purpose built than the G-coupe and are not branded (i.e.: Pontiac and Ford) like the more upscale G. Maybe if GM branded a version of the GTO as a Buick (adding Navi, moonroof, etc,...), it'd be more on par with the the G. (Just speaking hypothetically here.)
Sidenote: Speaking in terms of general competition, the G coupe competes in a relatively small segment that includes the BMW 330Ci PP (and to some degree the overpriced MB CLK) but is now missing the equally impressive/now discontinued Acura 3.2CL Type S .
The C5/C6 comparison is a bit on the silly side though as the Corvette is a world class sports car that's as recognized as the Porsche 911. I personally think Chevy did a good job with the C5 and a GREAT job with the C6 and would have NO PROBLEM committing $55-large to one. (My wife who has a strong German/Japanese car bias even likes the new Vette.)
I can appreciate American cars as well as ones from Asian & European automakers. IMO, the C6, 300, Caddy and new Mustang show a pulse. But, I do know that the Big Three have a LOT of ground to make up in a number of areas in the automotive sector. However, the segment in which the G35 Coupe resides should be low on their list. They need to focus on producing a viable Honda Accord/Toyota Camry competitor before even considering a G-Coupe competitor.
Just my $5 on a $4.98 purchase.
Sandman, I bet the SS is a total blast to drive.
