Gone for the Summer
Gone for the Summer
Ok, so two weeks from now I will be leaving for the whole summer and will have to leave my car in a garage for 3 months.
My question to all of you is what do you suggest i do to prepare to leave her there. One thing i know is to get a car cover and inflate the tires a lot so they don't ruin, any idea on how much i should inflate and what else i should do??
Thanks

actually you should raise the car off all four so the pressure does not sit on the tire for one spot at that amount of time. Unhook the battery, have no gas in the car or put something in it so the gas will not go bad and put a plate of baking powder in the car to attract the moisture.

Yes don't forget to disconnect the battery. It will die over that length of time if left hooked up.
Put her away with fresh oil, and either full tank of fuel with conditioner, or no gas. Cover her up and if possible, raise the wheels off the ground to prevent flat spots.
....or you could drop it off at G35miked's house....I"m sure he'll keep it in good shape for you....

Haha, my friend with a 3 series said the same thing once i let him take a rip with my car.
One more note, i could have somebody going to the garage every week or so to turn on the car for like 15 min, thats not much of a problem as far as the gas is concerned, right?
i have a similar siutation except i'll only be gone for a month, should i ask my parents to drive it like once a week or something?

I live in greece over the summers and go there a few times during the year, last year when I had a car there, (bought it new), i left it for two months untouched, went back and the battery was dead, so I guess you got lucky.
1: use car until very little gas left (I dont like gas conditioners, also cheaper this way)
2: wash/dry your car & park in garage
3: jack your car up on jack stands
4: unhook/disconnect batteries
5: Have a great summer!
