Saving $3000 to buy a new 04 6mt
After all is said and done I am saving $3000 for buying a new 04 over buying a 05. Would you guys do it? I have until today to make my decision. any advice would help greatly.
yeah
Yeah I would do it. We know most of the things for 03 and 04 G's. Parts will be easier to find for the 03 and 04 models, but its up to you. I would do it! Use the extra money that you would end up paying for an 05' for upgrades, like body, wheels, sound, performance.
I would not do it. The '06 will be out by October and your value will go down even more. They would have to give me a lot better discount that $3K to buy a car that is almost a year and a half old. Not worth it IMO.

I wouldn't do it...an 04 sells for about 5 or 6 less than an 05. Unless you can get about 6 or 7 less I wouldn't do it. You should have really good negotiating power, considering the 05's have been out for a couple months now.

I got my 05 today (upgraded from an 04). I think that for 3k, the 05 is better. At least it is for me. The ONLY thing I dont like about the 05's is the lack of Brembos. I read in the forums that the infiniti 05 brakes are just as good, but I have to disagree. As for the less torque, I dont know if you can feel a difference as I wont floor my 14 miled car. I drove my previous G like a mad man and those brembos did feel good. Despite the worse quality brakes the 05 has, I still am 100% satisfied with my choice.
05's Improovements off the top of my head:
-Steering Wheel is electronically adjusted, not only up and down, but towards and away from you! (Better driving position)
-Butter clutch (if you plan on getting a 6MT, the clutch pedal is sooo smooth on the 05).
-Smoother shift (again, if you get thte 6MT, shifting on the 05 is better).
-Interior is SO much better, not just the aluminum, but the dials the lighter is hidden and the 2nd power source is in the area where you rest your elbow, inside where you put your stuff (box between driver and front passenger seat).
-Seats are more confortable. The cusions on the sides, the ones that pop out from the seat are not as tall which makes you fit on them better and I feel they are less stiff. Im not even tall or fat and I feel I fit on the 05's seat better. (I am 5"7 and weigh 164 pounds, fat% of 11).
-VLS Differential, though I cant notice any difference yet.
-The radio/nav/etc buttons are made of a different plastic and feel stiffer. They do not pop out the dash. Also, GPS is bigger and pops up and down automatically.
Thats all I can think of now, but I am sure there are some more Ill find out when I take away the plastic from them seats and drive it a little. One thing though, if you get an 05... you will get one that either has not sat on the sun at the dealership (if you order one) or will have been under the sun for less time than the 04. Along with that, less mileage done to it, probably not test-driven.
But yeah, the brembo thing... if you come from a bremboed G to a non one, you WILL feal a difference.

To clarify everything, here is the break down:
30995
1937.18 tax
226 title
199 license
33357.18 OTD(out the door) @2.9% for 60months
plus shipping of 890 uncovered/1190 covered.
Is this worth it? Good deal or no?

Yes, this was the "drive off the lot" price. If you're not playing one dealer off of another, then you're really missing some negotiation leverage.
I will admit that I got lucky (in addition to hard bargaining) in that I got my Coupe at the end of the Nissan fiscal year-- they were dumping cars (& prices) to make their numbers. I happened to take advantage of that.
That said, you can do better than the current deal you have now.
