The 05's are still faster with less torque more horsepower, AND move rpm range. Everyone forgets about the extra couple hundred rpms that you get in an 05. If you have 2 equal drivers(not likely) and a 05 vs 04 the 05 will win.

i've ran against a more experienced driver in an exact same package (minus his 19s) 05 6spd G here. from the dig we ran even, from 60mph rolls i took him by a car or so. even after that i still think the cars basically perform exactly the same and some other factor must have made up for my lead in those races.. saying that the 05 is faster or that the 04 is faster is stupid IMO since the cars perform so damn similar and in ideal conditions i really do think they'd run the same.

As I was reading through this thread, I got to thinking, if the 03-04 6MT's have 280 hp and 270 ft-lbs and the a plenum mod (MD Spacer or Crawford Plenum) adds ~10 hp and ~10 ft-lbs of torque making 290 hp and 280 ft-lbs, shouldn't a car modified this way be better than the '05 6MT with 298 hp and 260 torque at the track?

Get someone in the MD area and I wil;l race them at Capital Raceway..... I am not biased. I love all G's and I have run G's and Z's...... The 05's are faster....Driver for driver 05 will win period. I have raced at least 10 Z's and 2 G's. I have beaten every G and Z that was stock or had an intake or exhaust. I think I have done enough trial runs to say for sure, but I am willing to do it again if you like. It sounds to me the bias is on your part.
Get someone in the MD area and I wil;l race them at Capital Raceway..... I am not biased. I love all G's and I have run G's and Z's...... The 05's are faster....Driver for driver 05 will win period. If you can beat 2 Zs then either your car is freakishly fast or the Z drivers just weren't as good as you. You can't claim that driver for driver, the 05s are as fast because you are a sample of one. Now if you took 10 different 05s and 10 different 04s and you raced each 05 and each 04 with another driver and the 05s won a significant amount of time, then you would have enough evidence to argue statistical significance. BTW, a test was done by Chaz M and the 05s LOST. Basically, its a driver's race.
The test you speak of was him racing his friend , how does that justify anything? I will race any 03-04 G or Z modded with nothing more then a intake or exhaust. We will do a run my car their car....then we will swap cars and do 2 or 3 runs just to get used to the other vehicle THEN that will prove my case. I'm ready whenever someone else is.

I am experienced, but was still uneasy takin my car that far up so I never really tried at the time (at 60mph rolls I think you were droppin to 3rd, I only dropped to 4th each time ). However...However, when we did run from a stand still, we both took off the same time, and we both were DEAD EVEN!!! It was picture perfect, no one gained on the other...so when it all comes down to it, they ARE THE SAME PEOPLE!!!!!
I have had my car since January...only 2500 miles...so I dont like to beat on it.

If the '05 coupe is faster than the '03/'04, then it is only .1-.2 seconds faster, which is negligilbe during a race. So many factors can wash out a .2 seconds advantage. On the other hand, I would love to run a '05 6mt to see if my mods are working
