That's whacked going from 3rd to 6th. I've heard of skipping a gear while downshifting but what's the point of skipping 2 gears while upshifting? Saving gas at the extent of killing your engine? 4k in 3rd is ~40mph, and at that speed in 6th gear while trying to merge will cause your engine to strain since it's probably below 2k rpm.

that was one of the most confusing run-on sentences I've ever read.

I've had the same thing happen going from 4th to 6th... Only if I'm going pretty quickly in 4th gear, though. I guess if you merged in 3rd and got up to 80 or so, you might feel like going straight to 6th... why waste time shifting to 4th and 5th? As long as you're letting the engine slow down while you shift, it shouldn't matter. Right?

theres nothing wrong with shifting 3rd to 6th O.o.. what the hell are u guys talking about lol.. u can do 2 to 6 for all the car cares..
1st of all lets say hes at 6k RPM at 3rd gear..
Clutch +
Shift to N
unclutch..
*RPM DROPS*
*rev match*
Clutch
Shift to 6
clutch..
or lets just say he waits for the RPM to set to the right level.. blip it a lil with the throttle and sets 6th in.. from what i'm reading thats what hes doing.. if you guys are saying that is wrong then "shifting" in general is wrong

Skip shifting from 3 to 6 might be out of the range of your synchros to handle (for the speed at which you are shifting). I've never skip shifted 3 gears, only two so I haven't experienced your problem.
Try this; see what the correct rpms would be in 6th at that speed. Hit the throttle after clutching in 3rd to get the rpms up to what they would be in 6th, then try shifting into 6th. If that still doesn't work my guess is your synchros are in need of some attention.
