Unhappy Dammit!! Got Egged!!!

My car was parked outside my girl's house last night and some neighborhood kids threw an egg at my car. I didn't even notice it till I got home after the egg had congealed and hardened on my brand new paint. That's what I get for parking in a ****ty neighborhood, huh?

Well, my question is how do I get the egg off my car without damaging the paint and has it already done any damage overnight??

I would really appreciate any suggestions...thanks.

That sucks!!!!

I would first try to wet the area down, let it mosten back up for a bit then just try to wash it off. If your car is well waxed it should come off fairly easy. I would then use a cleaner wax on the area, then re wax it .

The eggshell can scratch the hell out of your paint too.

Soak a microfiber and put it on the egg - make sure your car is in the shade. It should soften it quite a bit - make sure you keep the microfiber really wet.

If you haven't let it bake in the sun and you keep good wax on your car you should be okay.

Thanks for all the help you guys. I did get the eggs off with some warm water and soft paper towels, but can you tell by looking if the clear coat has been damaged??

I hate to say it, but no damage now doesn't mean it won't show up a little later. Since you have NO recourse, the best thing to do is take care of the finish in that spot and then try to ignore it from then on. Otherwsie, it's going to eat you up if you start seeing the bubbles/texture develop in that spot. Nothing you can do now other than cleaning (clay-bar and wax). If problems arise, it's going to take a re-paint and blending in of the area.

If it's damaged, it'll either be scratched or stained yellow. You may have some success by clay barring the area (very carefully) to take off the surface discolouraction and reapplying wax or Zaino.

Paper towels? Short of using Scotchbrite, paper towels are one of the worst things you can put on a clear coat. They may feel soft but are actually quite abrasive...

Claybar the area, use a good (read clear coat safe - I like Mothers glaze and sealer myself) car polish and then topcoat it with some wax and you should be fine. If it looks good today, chances are it will be okay - you could see some etching or yellowing down the road but if you keep good polish/wax on the car the chance for the damage to degrade futher is minimized.

I wipe bird crap off my car with detailer spray and wet papertowels. If you don't rub it
back and forth it will not swirl THAT much... I use very little pressure and do only
two or three passes as most. Swirling is undetected. I usually finish off with
more spray and buffing cotton towel, or wax if necessary.
