SAT reception in wooded areas...
I was wondering what's everyone's experience with SAT reception in wooded areas…
I live in the northeast and find myself quite often drive through the woods where I lose reception for about 50% of the drive....
I should mention that my antenna is located on the rear parcel shelf rather than on the roof. From your experience, would I get better reception in the woods by moving it out to the roof? - I'm having problems only in wooded areas, whereas in other environments, reception is 100% fine.

I drive around some wooded areas and I don't loose reception unless I'm directly under a very large tree (which is very rare). But I don't drive in thick forests only some wooded residental areas. My antenna is on the rear deck (no tint) and I have a ~4x5 steel plate under it.
I've noticed driving in areas with many trees will sometimes make the audio choppy. Im using factory installed antenna on the roof.
Problem existed with both my factory tuner and aftermarket Pioneer tuner, so I figure its normal.
Also I have been using XM since its was first launched and have noticed a big drop in reliability in the past few years. Do you think it because of so many new customers???
