Timing / Rev Limit Raised by Dealer!
Hello all,
Its been awhile since I have gotten on here and posted. I have been in the process of moving about 4 hours away from my hometown and getting everything set up for my apartment, work, school, etc and all has been very hectic. I found this old dusty laptop thats about 4 years old and am jacking up the phone lines with it sportin' the 56K again [I feel sorry if there are any others out there like me right now!] Anywho...I am going to a technical school and have decided to major in automotive stufffff. So, I applied for a job at a local Infiniti Dealer and have been working as a valet/porter/greeter kinda guy for people bringin' their rides in for service. OK, so I bought my G from this place so alot of the guys know me and my car - its the only one like it that really comes in [although I have had the honor of driving a black on black coupe and a silver with some nice Volks on it]. Because of this I am pretty good friends with the master tech; the other day we got into a nice chat when things were slow and he said that he would advance my timing 3 degrees and also raise the rev limiter to 7000 [or whatever I wanted really]. So after alittle procrastination he finally saw me again and was like, "Hey, you can bring your peice of crap back to the shop and park it in one of the back spots and I'll get to work on it for you" [thats almost a direct quote]. Haha, so anyway, the make the story alittle more boring and **** you off alittle, we were super busy and the deal was and is that customers have to be taken care of 1st and I get off work at noon so we didnt have time to screw up my computer any... Tomorrow [june 15th] he promised me we'd get it done at 6:45 in the morning [right before we open]! Hehehe, looks like I'm cheatin the system alittle here...has anyones dealer ever done this kinda work to their car before? I wish I could dyno my car before and after or something but I have no time [nor the money yet] But I will try to get pics of my car in the shop also...just for ****s and giggles. We also were able to touch base on forced induction...Conclusion: He said, "There will not be a problem putting a turbo or supercharger on your car and keeping the factory warranty." Score...I think I'll be working for Infiniti a bit longer.
I'll keep you all updated! Not all dealers are bad! - Especially if you work for them

Not bad, but it's not up to this guy wheter or not Nissan/Infiniti will honor your warranty if something goes wrong, so its nice that he says that, but I wouldn't take it as fact.
Let us know how the new rev limit and timing advance turn out.
