What's happening to my windshield?

This morning on my way to work, my 5 year old son asked me if it was raining since he said there were so many tiny rain drops on the windshield. Its a bright sunny morning, and my windshield was clean. I noticed those dots as well, and they appeared to be tiny stone chips all over the windshield. I estimated there are about 10 dots per square inch, and covers the entire windshield. My coupe has exactly 3000 miles now. None of the other cars I owned had this much chips this early. The G has been driven all on clean city roads, and the car was not used during winter time when salts and sands were all over the roads. Is this happening to any other Gs?

My wife works in Rockville and came home yesterday with her rear window looking like that - her car is 8 days old. The pollen washed of easily.

tree sap?

careful with any polishes, that glass is *super soft*. I mean, very easy to dull it when trying to polish.

Yup, I'm also local to the area and would suggest its either the sap or pollen.

Thanks for the info. So if it's tree sap, the regular wash fluid will not be able to clean thhem off? Any detergent I should use?

Probably tree sap. It's that time of year. A good glass cleaner should get the dots off.

Did you bother to touch the windshield to see if these "tiny stone chips" come off?

I have both, a million tiny road chips from my highway driving, and tree sap.
The rock chips are permanent, the tree sap can be removed easily by filling your car wash bucket with hot water, and then dilute it with your garden hose. The warm water helps to loosen and remove the sap quite easily.

Alcohol will remove the tree sap as well, then give it a shot of Rain-X. Helps with the next removal and keeps the water sliding off when it rains......

No, at best it will just smear it a little.

In addition to what was suggested, "bug&tar remover" spray will also work. Good luck!

You can just go to one of those self service car washes and use the pressurized rinse to spray the sap off. Sometimes using a window cleaner doesnt clean it off totally and will just smear.
