Clutch got stuck half-engaged in first
Clutch got stuck half-engaged in first - REACURRING
I have a 2005 6MT and I just hit 1500 miles. I pulled up to a stop sign and came to a complete stop. I turned VDC off, put the shifter into first, reved the engine to ~4k rpm. I let the clutch out faster than normal, but didnt dump it, while i hit the gas. My foot lifted off the clutch all the way and i stepped on the gas harder. The engine reved up to about 6500 rpms, and the car just rolled forward slowly, as if i was starting off like normal. I let off the accelerator and when the RPM's decreased a little bit i saw the clutch pedal release itself all the way, and the car was fully engaged in gear. My windows were down and I could smell the worst burning I have ever smelled in a car. I drove for about 5 more minutes, stopped at my house, popped thge hood, and I could still smell the burning, although it was less intense. It smelled almost like a fire from the clutch. It has not done it again since, although I have not tried to launch it. But I engaged the clutch when it was reved to 3k and it worked fine, but i didnt try to push on the gas too much.
The dealer said I can bring the car in and they think it might need to be adjusted, and they will look at it under warranty. Any thoughts on what it could be? It made me nervous, even if it didnt cause any immediate damage, do you think it could effect it later on?
Cliffnotes:
Tried to launch the car in first gear, released clutch and foot was off pedal completely, depressed accelerator and engine revved to 6.5k rpm while car rolled forward slowly. Let off gas and saw clutch pedal release itself partially, it was stuck half engaged. Smelled severe burning afterwards.
Thanks for your input.

This isn't the first situation like this that I've read about. Some posts in the past were chalked up to a lack of driver experience, but this is exactly as was described by at least two others. Hopefully one of them will chime in shortly.
happened to me once while trying to get going from a red light. I wasn't even trying to push it at the time since I was still breaking it in. I didn't take it in to get a look at, but it hasn't happened again since.
happened to me 1 time. smelled really bad (fishy bad) I was told that since the clutch didnt fully engauge..I just heated up the clutch and that was the cause of the smell. Luckly there was no damage to mine...I've had no other problems with the clutch. (thankful) going on 3500 miles now.
I tried this again tonight, and the same exact thing happened, followed by the smell of burning metal. I drove home (shifted at 2k to put least amount of strain on clutch) and looked under the hood. Smell on passangers side of engine smelled like normal engine, smell on drivers side (where clutch is) smelled like burning metal. I know this has happened to people once before, but does it continue to happen every time?
I did some reading, and it seems our clutches dont like to grab over 4k rpm? Even still, seems strange that a brand new car would stick like that and burn up the clutch. I am not going to want to have to buy a new one down the raod because of what happened.
Thanks
