Infiniti to support non-prewired cars for sat.

My dealer just called and said Infiniti just sent them a memo stating there will be a kit available so folks w/ early non-prewired (pre March 03) can get satellight radio. He had a part #, but evidently it is not yet in the system.
That is good news, I knew Infiniti would do the right thing.

The part # I know of is B8377-5Y710
This is the wire to go from the head unit under the carpet to the sat reciever in the trunk.
I hope they do make good on this, today I went to the dealer and they said the computer still wont let them order it.

Hope this is true, keep us informed
Ps. great rims Bill

This is great news. Now if they can just come up with some fixes for their rattles, I'll rate them perfectly on my JD Power survey.

Would be nice if someone else could confirm this. I have been waiting for something like this. I am not willing to use an aftermarket tuner b/c I think they look tacky. I want to be able to use the button on the dash and the steering wheel controls. Then XM or Sirius will get my money...

Great news! I don't even use my car enough to justify sat, but I still want the prewire. Who knows when my usage patterns will change and I'll wish I could get sat.

When you say pre march Do you mean Production or delivery? I picked up my car in may but I think the sticker on the door says february, I'll have to double check. I just ordered the Sat thing from infiniti parts USA and It better work, aaccording to the guy there My VIN is past the cutoff but I havent taken the time to rip apart the trunk and see for sure. It better Work cause Im sick of local radio stations.

From what I was told at Nissan, up to about March/03 and up to VIN# JNKxxxxxxxx210826 are not prewired for SAT.

It is not part # B8377-5Y710. My guy told me it was a different part #.
If I get a chance, I'll call them and get the part #.

It is the wire to go from the head unit under the carpet to the sat reciever in the trunk.

This is everything I know about this. I am guessing it won't be free.

Re: Infiniti to support non-prewired cars for sat.

I hope there is a solution for all of you, but please be cautious. On FreshAlloy, a very reputable dealer who regularly posts CANNOT confirm this, and Infiniti told him when he checked today that pre-March cars are still NOT supported and there are still NO plans to.

Infiniti's corporate communication is pitiful, so it's possible that thje dealer doesn't yet have the new information and the people that he taked to didn't know either as of yet, BUT there is no memo for them, and I wouldn't get my hopes up too much with this - it seems more likely to me that BillR's dealer is mistaken from experience, but hopefully it's the other way around this time. I'm rooting for you all and want to see a solutioni, so I do hope this pans out, but honestly I'm dubious, especially if dfw_infiniti hasn't gotten anything about this yet, and I just hate to see all of you get overly excited if this isn't the case (which is why I decided I had better post this). Good luck!

Re: Infiniti to support non-prewired cars for sat.

I too read that, so I called my dealer. He said that there will be parts available.
Part # B8242-AM800. He is looking for someone in the Raleigh area for a test install.
Call Mike (service mgr?) at Raleigh Infiniti toll free 877 981 5656.

****Hint****
Also might be a *very* good idea to PM that very reputable dealer who regularly posts over on Fresh Alloy and see if he knows anything more

Re: Infiniti to support non-prewired cars for sat.

Here's the applicable thread - quite a discussion going there including more comments from DFW.

http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthre...b=5&o=&fpart=1

Again, I don't want to burst your bubble, and I hope your dealer's right and DFW's wrong this time. It would be really great for Infiniti to do this...but...based on past experience on the FA forum, DFW is generally right even when many other dealers give out different information, which eventually proves incorrect. I've seen it happen before (and he's not even my dealer BTW). It's certainly possible he's wrong on this one as everyone's fallible, but if he is it's a very rare exception. Personally I'm doubtful this solution really exists at this point, but I also sincerely hope I'm wrong.

I'm not a regular on these forums, Joe, but if I'm reading this right you're a dealer (or someone who works for the dealership). Is this the real deal???
