Did I ever mention layering coats of Z2 only? To be even more specific, Z5 will only fill the fine scrathes temporarily, but by its nature it's non-abrasive and it won't remove them. How do you find a difference between 3 and 6 Z2 coats on DG? I would like to know.

It seems like the common opinion is that carnauba waxes are the best for black cars. When you go to a place like autopia, they claim that Zaino leaves a plastic, mirror finish and not a deep wet look. I wish I had a black car so that I could try this first-hand. But on the downside, as it was mentioned, waxes will melt faster than Zaino. I used to use the Meguiars NXT system on my old car and after a couple of washes it would start losing its gloss and shine.

What I dont like about carnuba waxes is they dont last long, and they seem to attract much more dust than synthetic waxes.

This is a PITA if you have a black car!!!

 

I read on the Meguiars site a while back is that you can put a coat of synthetic wax on top of the caranuba to make it last a little bit longer and to give it extra shine. Now i'm not sure if this statement is true or whatnot but if anyone knows please advise

 

what are you guys using for your exact method of Zaino'ing?

Z2/Z6/Z2/Z6/Z5 or something like that?


I haven't done the full zaino yet.. just a coat here and there...

 

z2 makes it shine, z5 makes it look deeper. I dont know how you managed 6 layers in one day. I barely manage 3. BTW in the Zaino instructions, it says you should not use more than 3.

 

I used a Porter Cable buffer with microfiber bonnets to remove the product, this makes the job much easier...

 

Dawn, Z18 Claybar, Z7, Z5, Z6, Z2, Z6 etc.. your final layer should be Z2 because of the higher gloss effect it has. After the last layer you can use Z8 instead of Z6 if you really want to shine

 

If you have swirls or fine scratches start with Z5, this help hide them. Then I would finish with Z2.

Using Z6 between layers supposedly helps, but not sure if I saw the benefit...

I only used Z2 since I have buffed out all my swirls with Porter Cable buffer...

 

1 coat of Mother's sealer glaze, and 1 coat of Mother's carnuba. Now she has about 4 coats of carnuba. Dust won't even settle she's so slick. LOL..

 

Mother's carnuba lasts longer than any synthetic I've ever used, and I've used just about all of them. I like to lay down a coat of polish and then a coat of Mother's. I usually get pissed because I want to wax my car but she doesn't need it. NOTHING sticks to the surface - not even south Texas bird$hit.

 

BoBG35 - How many bonnets do you go through to remove each coat of Zaino?

I only recently decided against the PC buffer because Zaino is supposed to come off so easily. Still, removing wax is always the hardest part, so anything that reduces the time and effort it takes is worth a look, IMO.

 

You obviously have never used Zaino! I use Meguires NXT on the other 2 cars since I rather not waste the money on them and use Zaino for the G. NXT is the closest thing I have found to Zaino, but it still doesn't last as long.
