Stupid move of the year...

Precursor to story: 300 miles on the odometer, I baby my G. Never rev past 4k rpms, never do hard stops/launches. Decided to stop by and show my friend my new car.

I'm at the mall showing my friend my new car, we're driving around, I show him the manu-matic option, shift up and down drive around a little...then without thinking I switch from manu-matic back to automatic mode...and then with even less thinking (remember my brain is telling me I'm still supposed to shift gears) I push the lever up to Neutral at 3,000 rpms, I'm freaking out....everything is slowing down for me, I'm not touching the gas pedal at all, I'm freaked. So my first stupid reaction was to push the lever down to Drive.....while I was moving....at 3,500rpms.....I wasn't thinking. Neutral drop...I am an idiot.

I'm scared, but I know nothing is wrong. The car drives fine and doesn't make any weird noises. I didn't feel a jerk when I shifted from neutral to drive at 3.5k rpms, but it did rev a little high for a second. I know nothing is wrong...yet I feel a little pain in my gut. My baby, I'm sorry!!!

Someone please tell me everything's ok.

put the pipe down and relax...just realize that this car is not a Yugo...it's made to handle the abuse...otherwise we wouldn't have bought it...

Re: Stupid move of the year...

It's fine bro. But I know how you feel. By accident I rev'd my new Coupe to 6500 in first gear shortly after I got the car (only 10 miles!). : I forgot that it was in Manumatic and didn't shift. DOH!!!!!!!
Seems these rides are real tough and can take a 'kick in the butt' once in a while. No worries.
