My thought was that the AWD will hurt a car's performance after you are moving in regards to straight line racing. I think that's why people say STi's aren't as fast at highway speeds.

If normal driver drives a 6MT, I will probably beat it with my 5AT. But 6MT have a closer gear ratio so it will more likely to have constant power at higher RPM. If it's someone that's a little bit trained, they will have a better chance. But I wouldn't consider comparing Turbo/Supercharger with NA engines.

im surprised my G was neck and neck with the STI up until 115 mph and as of now my g is stock but not for long..And i dont regret my car at all cuz i gave a 2001 S 55 AMG a run for its money the same day i raced the STI and got sprayed.. STI's are **** they dont even come with a radio and arent in the same class as a G and he had to use NOS to beat my AUTOMATIC. fawk thattt

yes awd does hurt at high speed, but please deosnt matter how it hurt a modded sti will take G any day, even stock VS stock G wont be even close, drove my friend's wrx wasnt heavy modded just chip exhuast down pipe, he car isnt anywhere close to sti, but for sure it killed my G like no tomorrow. give up G isnt some super sports car, it's just another regular car isnt too fast but not too slow.
sti is almost the same speed as m3 s4 c32 amg, how is G going to keep up with it ?

I agree with speedygp I love cars in general I am not a brand ***** but I do believe some talk about cars they know nothing about. And somebody mentioned STI's don't come with a radio yes that was true in 2004 but the 2005 came with a radio and a revised interior. Really if you think about it the majority of people swap out the stock HU for a aftermarket one so when I got my 04 STI it not having a radio was no big deal I didn't buy it for the radio. And they are not slow I have a friend here in Hawaii who ran a 12.87 in a automatic WRX I also seen a guy run a 12.9 in a STI that only had a down pipe I know he only had a down pipe because I helped him install it. I am not ******* on the G35 because I am getting one but you really can't compare the two cars a STI is by no means a luxory car as is the G35. I bought a STI for what it was and am getting a G35 for what it is.

STi is a nice car, I was very close to getting a STI or and EVO when I sold my 350Z, but couldn't deal with the interior. The STi was my first choice but I liked the black leather over the blue and black (insert matrial here) interior better. I'm not saying the G is a super sports car, it's very heavy. But take the turbo off the Subie or put one one the G and and G would come out on top.

Also, the times for the STi are wonderful on paper. But of you try to repeat them over and over, the tranny will break. AWD, high RPM launches = broken tranny.

I'm still amazed at how much WRX/STI vs G comparisons that are being posted on this board. As the owner of a 03 WRX mildly modded and an 04 G 5AT, heres my take on it. I bought the G as a nice comfortable, sporty, grand tourer. I bought the WRX because I wanted a fast car, and back in 02 the WRX was a killer on the streets. The G does hold it's own with a lot of cars on the road, but unless your running FI, it's not going to be a killer on the streets. With the WRX/STI you get a great car out of the box, and with mild modding you get one hell of a performer. And for those who don't believe me, just TEST DRIVE AN STI and tell me it doesn't put a smile on your face like this .

BTW I love my G but I also love pulling 1.7 60 ft times on Sreet tires in my WRX

My point exactly! Like I said I am not bashing the G I love this car! I actually had an 04 AT G35 ( Tried an auto for the first time in my life) and hated the AT. So I was looking for a new car .....again. So after having my killer wrx I thought maybee STi or Evo MR, so I test drove both.
Let me tell you after driving a G I could never go back to one of those cars!! I test drove the STi first , then the Evo. If had to buy 1 of them it would have been the STi, but it wasn't! I said let me go test drive the new 05 6MT. After getting back in the Infiniti my mind was made up, and now here I am defending my old car. Like I said earlier, I love cars, but I also know cars...very well. This is my passion, some call it a sickness!
